Jumble Solved – 10/01/22

Vintage shoe stores: See what shoe shopping really used to be like - Click Americana

Visual Description:  Okay, boots . . . start walkin’!

KALOC  =  CLOAK,  FARET  =  AFTER,  WOSDIN  =  DISOWN,  SOCOYH  =  CHOOSY   —   Giving us:  LOFTDOHO

Clue/Question:  The new shoe store had just opened and was quickly gaining a – – –

sexy boots, Off 79%, www.scrimaglio.com

Answer:  FOOTHOLD

(A wonderful – hopefully not stinky – pun!  What is it with women and shoes???  Do they all have some kind of foot fetish, or do they all hate the sight of their feet, or something?  Guys just want footwear to fit, and – generally – not stand out.  And, men can get away with one basic black pair, and maybe a more casual brown pair, and then a pair of sneakers.  Women need multiple colors and styles, and couldn’t possibly settle just for three pair of footwear.  Have I pissed off any of the ladies yet???  LOL!

As you may have guessed, we’ve seen all of today’s clue words before!  And, three of the jumbles have been used in earlier Jumble.  Only “wosdin” appears to be new.  The answer letter layout was a great eight letter jumble.  I thought it was fairly cryptic.  The wording of the clue/question – “quickly gaining a” – made for a quick solve, for me.

Very convincing shoe store cartoon.  Those kind of boots can be very sexy!  I can’t make out the store’s name on the window.  Probably something clever.  Fun Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I wish that every day was Saturday and every month was October.”   —   Charmaine J. Forde

(When I Google on my iPhone her name – not knowing that middle initial, or even what her last name started with – I got Charmaine Lorde!  I hate Googling on my iPhone!  Luckily, Googling on my computer gave me more Charmaines!  I love October too.  Probably my favorite month.  This appears to be the first of Ms. Forde’s quotes used for a Cryptoquote.  So, we welcome her to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
