Clue/Question: Stephen King published a horror novel about a clown in 1986, and – – –
Pre-Answer: Four Words (3-letters) (4-letters) (5-letters) (2-letters)

Answer: HIS FANS LOVED IT
(So much so that it’s been made into 2 television mini-series and a major motion picture, along with a sequel. I think this just goes to show how messed up the world has become. When I was a kid, maybe one or two kids out of a hundred, or more, were afraid of clowns. I know because my cousin Doug was one of them. When we brought him to the circus he screamed bloody murder, while everyone looked at him as if he were nuts! This was back in 1963, or ’64. I think Stephen King must’ve been one of those one in a hundred kids too, based on what he said in a 2013 interview. Unfortunately, because of the Pennywise – the clown – character, way too many kids are NOW afraid of clowns. And, some of it comes from their parents’ projecting. I think, generally speaking, the same kids who are afraid of clowns are also afraid of Santa Claus.
All six of today’s clue words have been used before, but some not so recently. However, all six of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. I breezed right through them though. The answer letter layout was another fantastic fourteen letter jumble. Fiendishly cryptic! Nothing given away. I figured the last of the final answer words had to be IT, but it took some time to come up with the complete answer. I had to write out the vowels and the consonants separately, in alphabetical order. That helped me to see LOVED. From the remaining AIFHNSS the words HIS FANS came to me.
Fine cartoon of the women’s book club. One’s a wine drinker, and another’s a tea-totaler. I guess this could be the later ’80s, but it’s kinda hard to tell. Great Sunday Jumble! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
