Clue/Question:  The two people building the staircase were working together – – –

Answer:  IN LOCKSTEP

(A very smart pun!  I really liked it.  I’m no carpenter, but I never knew you used glue in building stairs.  I would have thought nails, or screws, or some kind of brackets.  I’ll defer to the guys here.

We’ve seen all of today’s clue words before.  One of the jumbles appears to be new, but we’ve definitely seen “talsn”, “hakik” and “bhpauc” in previous Jumbles.  The answer letter layout was a tenacious ten letter jumble.  Certainly not obvious.  Even though it could’ve been ON or TO, my first choice was IN.  This left me with SLKCPOET, and I quickly saw LOCKSTEP.
