Clue/Question:  The animals got into the furniture business to provide – – –

Pre-Answer:  Two Words  (8-letters)  (8-letters)

Cheetah, said to be Tarzan's sidekick chimp in 1930's, has died at the astonishing age of 80 – The John Carter Files

Answer:  CREATURE COMFORTS

(An awesome Jumble pun!  As an old-time fan of the Johnny Weissmuller “Tarzan” movies I was jazzed to see use of the name Cheetah.  Although, I don’t remember any explanation why Tarzan named his chimpanzee after one of the big cats.  Maybe Cheetah outsmarted a cheetah, or something.  He was a very clever chimp!  Kind of like Lassie of the jungle.

All too familiar clue words this day.  Five of the jumbles did come up as new, for me.  However, we have definitely seen “sitimf” before.  The only one I had to look at a few times was “tpreen”.  Gambling, poetry, and religious terms are all kind of in my blind spot.  I eventually get them, just not immediately.  The answer letter layout was a spectacular sixteen letter jumble!  I think the combination of the clue/question’s leading nature, and the final answer slots being 8 and 8 clued me right in.

Very entertaining cartoon!  The customers are a giraffe, a lion, and a toucan.  Cheetah must be in his office, as it looks like he has monkeys as his sales people.  Cheetah actually lived a little longer than Johnny did!  80 to 79.  Nice African Acacia trees in the distance, out the door.  Back to Tarzan though.  I always thought that Maureen O’Sullivan was a babe!  One of my earliest crushes.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Life without left-handed people wouldn’t right.”   —   C.R. Manske

(A very clever quote!  This is from Claudia Manske, who wrote the book on lefties!  This is her first quote to be used at the Cryptoquote, so we welcome her to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The 25 best episodes of 'Columbo', ranked | Yardbarker

Answer:  WASNT THE CASE

(A fine Jumble!  And, very specific looking!  But nothing I can put my finger on.  But nice wordplay none the same.  I do know the shows above!

All of the clue words had been used before.  However, two of the jumbles came up as new for me.  We have seen both “sseen” and “thawc” previously.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble.  The final answer slots’ spacing, and the apostrophe, made for a quick solve.

Really cool cartoon.  The man looks a little like Al Pacino.  But I’m sure it’s from some current popular streaming show.  Possibly something on Netflix.  Something I am unfamiliar with.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Amy Poehler reveals why this will be her last time hosting the Golden Globes

If you can dance and be free and not be embarrassed, you can rule the world.”   —   Amy Poehler

(Today’s cryptos were much easier than yesterday’s!  But – in my newspaper at least – there was a mistake in Amy’s last name!  The coded letter should have been the R, but it was an M instead.  But I was 99.9% sure it was Ms. Poehler.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Where Do Alligators Live in North America? - AZ Animals

Answer:  TAILGATOR

(That trailing gator must have a little dog in him!  I hope he didn’t get a hold of one of Jeff’s!  LOL!  Dogs always have their noses in other dogs’ tails.  I was talking to a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses yesterday outside my vet’s office.  Very attractive women.  And, one of them brought up that she read that dogs have many millions of scent receptors in their noses, while humans have a mere 400.  Put a dog and a human, blind-folded, in front of a bowl of stew, and the human might be able to recognize that it’s stew.  But the dog can recognize the individual ingredients.  Apparently, gators have a good sense of smell too, but more for things like rotting carcasses and blood.

I think David L. Hoyt has given up on trying to give us new clue words.  And, he’s purposely avoiding any of the words that could be taken as “offensive”, by some, even if they also have a benign meaning as well.  The first three jumbles are coming up as new, for me.  But we’ve definitely seen “dosetd” in the past.  The answer letter layout was a divine nine letter jumble.  I thought it was very carefully cryptic.  Dancing around the word alligator, the great cartoon of one gator’s tail on the other’s face, and the hyphen and quotation marks, all made for a quick solve though.

Wonderful cartoon of the alligators in their natural habitat.  I remember years ago, when I was down in south Florida, I so badly wanted to see at least one in the wild.  You know, either on the side of the road, or on one of the numerous golf courses.  We even drove a number of miles into the Everglades, supposedly on the way to an Indian casino, but did not see a single gator!  I finally saw a bunch of them . . . in a zoo in Naples!  Not as satisfying, but at least I got to see some live ones, up close.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
