Clue/Question: The mosquitoes’ comments about the human were – – –
Answer: BITING REMARKS
(An excellent stinky Jumble pun! Considering that only the female mosquitoes bite humans, and other animals, you could also say that they were catty remarks. But there’s no pun in that! And, why have we – traditionally – attributed cats to women, and dogs to men? Guys can be just as catty, and women can be dirty dogs too. Must be one of those old “sexist” things, like referring to ships as “she”. Moving on.
We’ve seen all four of these clue words in past Jumbles. However, all four of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. None of them gave me any trouble today though. The answer letter layout was a thoughtful thirteen letter jumble. Terrifically cryptic. Just knowing that mosquitoes bite made for a quick solve though.
Fun cartoon of a pair of MONSTER mosquitoes about to bite into the back of this poor guy’s neck. I guess he should’ve worn DEET, or some other repellent. Of course, I’ve been bitten by mosquitoes in the past, but they do seem to have a preference for younger, darker skin. Maybe I’m a little more sensitive, and I brush them off, or squash them, before they can bite me? But my wife and my daughter get bitten far more frequently than I do. Believe me, I’m not complaining either! Mosquitoes suck! LOL! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
