Sara Baume: A tale of pleasant isolation in West Cork

This morning, the sun endures past dawn.  I realise that it is August:  summer’s last stand.”   —   Sara Baume

(What the heck does that mean???  “The sun endures past dawn”???  The sun brings the dawn, and is up and out until dusk.  All day.  I understand there are two meanings of endures, but I think it is I that endures from this poetic nonsense.  Well, at least she likes dogs.  Maybe it’s because she’s Irish?  Regardless, this appears to be the first of Ms. Baume’s quotes used at the Cryptoquote, at least since I’ve been solving them.  So we welcome Sara Baume to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Yes, we welcome her to the Cryp club. Another sentiment from a person who lives in a cold climate … Ireland!

That still doesn’t cut it for me, Hal. The use of the word “endures” – whether “suffers”, or “lasts” – is just plain bizarre in this line. — YUR
