Clue/Question: After so many flights over such a short period of time, the pilot was ready to – – –
Answer: TAKE OFF WORK
(Excellent Jumble pun! It seems that most pilots of commercial airlines either come from the south/southwest, or they affect that accent. It’s all folksy sounding, like the guy that used to do the Radio Shack commercials, or the guy when you first call up the Discover Card. I guess it’s supposed to put the passengers more at ease than some guy from Brooklyn saying: We’ll be flying through some violent thunderstorms today, but ayyy . . . fuhgeddaboudit!
Today’s clue words are all familiar, and some were even appropriate. The cockpit crew has to watch for a flock of birds, so they don’t have to invoke emergency actions and maneuvers. And, then they won’t have to affirm us of our safety. Three of the jumbles came up as new, for me. But we’ve definitely seen “twhac” before. The answer letter layout was an elusive eleven letter jumble. I thought I might have to write out the consonants, and then the vowels, in order to get the final answer, but it came to me after a couple of looks.
Fine drawing of the pilot and co-pilot in the airline’s cockpit. You can see the control tower in the distance, and a couple of other planes that have just taken off. And, a nice attention to detail in the cockpit. Fun Jumble. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
