Cryptoquote Solved – 07/15/22

20 Elizabeth Taylor Style Moments — Elizabeth Taylor Fashion

Some of my best leading men have been dogs and horses.”   —   Elizabeth Taylor

(Very funny line!  One of Hollywood’s greatest screen goddesses, she started out as a child actress, and then graduated into adult roles.  She had really expressive, beautiful eyes – rumored to be “violet” – yet they were actually a brilliant blue.  Apparently she was born with a rare genetic mutation called distichiasis, which means double lashes.  So, depending on the shade of her eye shadow, her eyes could appear as purple/violet, green, or their actual blue.  I always thought she had too big of a forehead, which is why I think she always looked best with bangs.  She also had a beautiful nose and mouth to go along with those great eyes.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  SQUID PRO QUO

(A highly intelligent, ancient species that has been around a heck of a lot longer than humans.  Or, any mammal for that matter.  Despite being preyed upon by other fish, fowl, various sea mammals, and humans they find a way to endure.  Of course, as with a number of other species, over-fishing has reduced their numbers.  While not technically “endangered”, some are considered threatened.  Keep that in mind when ordering that next appetizer for the table!

All familiar old clue words today.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, while we’ve definitely seen both “toqau” and “pogur” in previous Jumbles.  They all came to me immediately this morning.  The answer letter layout was an elongated eleven letter jumble.  I don’t remember when we last had one that contained two Q’s and two U’s!  But U almost always follows a Q.  I actually got the final answer before reading any of the dialog, or the clue/question.

Fantastic cartoon of the cooperating/coordinating squid.  With all those arms – tentacles, actually – it should be relatively easy for them to scratch each other’s backs.  The funky looking heads distinguish them from cartoon octopi.  They are very graceful swimmer, but they do look a little freaky.  Is it any wonder that some depictions of space aliens look like squid and octopi?  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
