“Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind.” — “Lilo & Stitch”
(That’s a Disney movie, right? I don’t remember ever watching it, although my daughter would’ve been about 11 when it came out, so she probably saw it either with some cousins, or friends. But the phase is popular with Hawaiians, and a lot of Filipinos! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Clue/Question: They returned to Rome from Vatican City, and now were back in their – – –
Answer: SURROUNDINGS
(A great geographical Jumble pun! In case you didn’t know, Vatican City is the smallest city state – country – in the world, both in area: 121 acres, and in population: about 453. And, it’s essentially right in the middle of Rome. Or, as they say, Rome surrounds it. I went there many years ago. Yeah, the paint on the Sistine Chapel was still wet. And, they wouldn’t let me climb the scaffolding! If Italy really wanted to be a dick they could just take it back, like Putin is trying to do in Ukraine. But they’d run the risk of upsetting every Catholic in the world. But ya see, Catholics! The Pope is pro-vaccination! So many of my wife’s Catholic friends are anti-vaxxers! Can you say disconnect???
No new clue words in today’s Jumble. “Bongo” made me look for BINGO, and it was/is there, so after I looked up “fussy” I looked for PUSSY, and it wasn’t there! Hoyt might have a list of words that he just won’t use, but it IS a legitimate word, despite the slang usage. You would think that the word QUEER wouldn’t be in the ralis95 database, for the same reasoning, but it IS there! And, I’m pretty sure it’s been there quite a long time . . . way before it became acceptable/fashionable. Stop being so arbitrary, Hoyt! Do I need to go to Change.org and start a petition for you to utilize some of your taboo words? Because you know I’ll do it, cuz! LOL! The answer letter layout was a twinkly twelve letter jumble. I thought it was beautifully cryptic.
Great cartoon of a couple of guys leaving Vatican City, while a couple of nuns enter the city. The guys kind of look military, but they could also just be workmen. It looks like they might be transporting propane tanks, or something. I really liked the manhole cover with SPQR on it. Very nice touch! Fun Friday Jumble! It is Friday, isn’t it??? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
