Clue/Question: They looked east from their new Denver highrise condo and saw the – – –
Pre-Answer: Four Words (6-letters) (2-letters) (5-letters) (4-letters)
Answer: PLAINS IN PLAIN VIEW
(Maybe the most ambitious Jumble in quite sometime! A whopping seventeen letters long, requiring a bit of U.S. geographical knowledge. To the west of Denver lie the mighty Rocky Mountains. And, gazing east from Denver you’d be looking towards the Great Plains states of Nebraska and Kansas. Even parts of Colorado are considered part of “the Plains”. Denver is called the “Mile High City” because of its elevation, so on a clear day, from atop of a high-rise building, you could probably see the corn fields of the Great Plains. Maybe even some American bison – buffaloes – and some prairie-chickens, if you squint real hard!
We’ve spied all of today’s clue words in earlier Jumbles. Five of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. But it seems we have seen “twhics” sometime before today. It took me two or three looks to see “parlay”. You know me and gambling terms! The answer letter layout was a stupendous seventeen letter jumble. Marvelously laid out, and beautifully cryptic. I didn’t find a thing about it to be obvious.
Fine cartoon of a couple looking out from their high-rise terrace. Until I read the clue/question I didn’t realize that it was supposed to be Denver! LOL! For all I know I suppose it could’ve been Albuquerque, NM. I’ve flown into Denver a number of times, but I’ve only spent an afternoon in the city proper, spending most of my time in Boulder and Lafayette. Great Sunday Jumble! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
