Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Huey, Dewey and Louie

Happiness is the richest thing we will ever own.”   —   Donald Duck

(This just does not sound like something Donald Duck would say!  He was always my favorite growing up, as I always like the underdogs, and he was always so feisty!  Not wishy-washy, like Mickey Mouse.  But maybe he said this to his nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie, who could – sometimes – be unduly influenced by Donald’s RICH uncle, Scrooge McDuck!  This is the first quote from Mr. Duck to be used at the Cryptoquote, so we welcome Donald Duck to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Vermont Edition' Field Trip: A Visit To 4 Of The State's Dairy Farms | Vermont Public Radio

Answer:  MOO POINT

(This gag was used either in a television show, or in a movie.  I can’t remember which.  But I remember some guy – who was trying to sound intelligent – saying that something was a moo point.  There was also an SNL skit, many years ago, with Jesse Jackson, where he hosted a game show called “The Question is Moot”.  I remember, at the time that I first saw that, I was not familiar with the phrase.  It may have been more common in legal proceedings, but I had never heard it used before the SNL skit.  I don’t know why they sometimes call the television the “idiot box”, I have learned so much from watching it.  And, yes, that phrase – “idiot box” – precedes “reality” television.

I’m going to have to put in a call to my pal ralis95.  The clue word IMPEL is not on the current issue of his Jumble clue word database.  However, the jumble “pmile” is coming up as being used before!  It’s a five letter word, so it wasn’t used on a Sunday Jumble, and I’m not sure if he – somehow – missed it, or if he inadvertently deleted it from an earlier file.  The second scenario seems unlikely though.  Does anyone know when we last had IMPEL as a clue word?  The other three jumbles all came up as new.  The answer letter layout was a straight eight letter jumble.  I found it crisply cryptic!  The quotation marks in the final answer slots made for a quick solve.

Fine cartoon of some kids visiting a dairy farm.  I don’t know a kid who doesn’t like chocolate milk!  That’s why I always find it so puzzling when they say that vanilla ice cream is the most popular flavor!  I mean it’s a good base for other flavors, and it does go great with most fruit – mainly apple – pies, but how is it more popular than chocolate???  The only thing where I like vanilla ice cream, besides certain pies, is when it comes with a chocolate molten lava cake!  By itself vanilla is just kind . . . meh.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
