Clue/Question:  The accuracy of the atomic clock could be counted on – – –

Pre-Answer:  Four Words  (4-letters)  (3-letters)  (4-letters)  (5-letters)

A brief history of telling time

Answer:  TIME AND TIME AGAIN

(Anybody else thinking of Cyndi Lauper?  No?  Just me, huh!  Okay.  There are a lotta great songs about time.  Chicago had two monster hits about time, with:  “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is” and “25 Or 6 To 4”.  Cyndi had “Time After Time”.  “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce.  “Time Is On My Side” by The Rolling Stones.  “Time Has Come Today” by The Chambers Brothers.  “Time Passage” by Al Stewart.  And, on and on.

It’s been some time since David L. Hoyt has come up with a new clue word!  But who’s counting?  I’m definitely not holding my breath waiting for a new clue word.  Will we ever see another one?  Only time will tell.  Four of the jumbles have come up as new, for me.  We’ve definitely seen both “rwhogt” and “hirtee” in prior Jumbles.  The answer letter layout was a spectacular sixteen letter jumble.  Nothing obvious in and of itself.  The leading nature of the clue/question and the layout of the final answer slots were the big clues for me.

A great piece of history cartoon!  It looks like the atomic clock was envisioned in 1945, but actually invented in 1948.  I think that Jeff Knurek could get a second job as a technical draftsman!  Compare his cartoon to the photo that I selected!  Spot on, buddy-boy.  I’ve been spending too much time on the blog the last couple of days, so I think I’ll end it here.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
