A Guy's Guide to Shopping for Engagement Rings

Visual Description:  Commitment shopping.

Clue/Question:  He planned to propose to his girlfriend and went to the jewelry store to do some – – –

10 Things No One Tells You About Shopping For An Engagement Ring | HuffPost Life

(I think that some people have a phobia about doing the Jumble.  Some are on the verge of pulling their hair out!  But there are an array of positives about solving the Jumble.  Solving them is a great way to unwind!  Do any of you long-timers remember the gentleman who used to put together a little story using the Jumble clue words?  This was way before our friend Ken was on the scene.  I just can’t remember his name.  Wonder if I could do a deep dive, and find the name.  I’ll give it a shot.  But if any of you remember his name you’d be saving me a bit of time!

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen both “rgeev” and “abohip” in previous Jumbles.  None of them gave me any trouble though.  The answer letter layout was a terrific ten letter jumble.  The quotation marks and the hyphen were the big clues for me.

Fun cartoon about a Jeff Knurek flashback, to the days when he was going to propose to Kathy.  He looks about the same as he does now.  Maybe a little thinner . . . and geekier.  LOL!  But I’d say that he found the right ring, because Kathy said yes!  And now they have two beautiful adult children.  A little slice of life Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Thank you, Randy! We’ve been doing some much needed renovations to our humble abode, over the last month, culminating with the tearing up of the old wall-to-wall carpeting, and replacing it with brand new wall-to-wall carpeting. That is what took me off-line for so long. The TVs and much of the furniture went back fairly early, but I just got the computer set up again on Tuesday. And we still have some furniture, and boxes and boxes of stuff to bring back from downstairs and the garage. Oh, and scads of paintings and display cases have to be put back up, but all those nails and screws were pulled and the walls plastered prior to the painting! Some smaller curtains also have to be put back up, and the larger one had to be thrown out, so we need hire someone to put up new ones. It’s nearly as bad as moving! And, I’m just too old for this crap!

    to UNWIND by saying;

I am glad to hear you are ok…I was just fearing the worst. Normally, you give us a heads up when you are going to be off for a bit or on vacation. I feared you were in the hospital and I also recall you saying wordpress had been giving you issues lately..The jumble I was referring to was monday’s May 16. Thescramble was OBBANO for the word baboon. The cartoon feature a couple caught in traffic and the driver saying is everyone going to portland today? and the lady stating it is the best route. The caption was Interstate 95 in new england’s largest state is a blank blank. answer was “MAINE” ROAD I know you are up around that area is another reason I thought of you. Hope your life gets back to normal soon, but I hate it when life gets in the way of the jumble lol. Have a good one my friend

LOL! Still trying to survive – and recuperate from – the ones we just went through, Ken! — YUR

Thanks for the concern, Randy! I should have anticipated this break better, but I worked like a dog last Thursday night, clearing my desk and bookshelf of books and such. And, I had to make numerous trips to put my step-son’s borrowed tools out of the projected rain for that night. AND, I ran into a branch in the dark and caught my bad (left) shoulder pretty good. Then, Friday morning the carpeting guys came bright and early, forcing me to disassemble my workstation (I use an old fashioned desk top, with separate monitor, speakers and printer), and that was traumatic, as I was pretty well spent. I always think I’m going to have more time! That could be my epitaph! LOL!

I actually did Monday’s Jumble, and I still have it. Not sure what happened to Tuesday’s, but I did that too. I have Sunday’s. I don’t have Saturday’s because my paper discontinued Saturday delivery, and I – obviously – couldn’t access the online version. I can’t remember if I eventually did Friday’s, but I’m pretty sure it’s been recycled by now.

Yeah, I-95 pretty much transcends the entire the entire east coast, and that includes me! The real “normal”, for me, will take some time, but I’ll eventually get there.

    Thanks again, Randy!

I see that Ken has survived the WordPress transition.
For awhile, I was beginning to wonder !

    Welcome, Ken ! 🙂

Not sure what “transition” you are referring to, lwc. WordPress has made it a little harder for me to write my posts, but are the readers having some difficulty in accessing them? — YUR

UR, a round of applause for getting so much done on your house, well done! You deserve a Peanut Buster Parfait reward, or a banana split or root beer float! PS, did you happen to see the Preakness today? The gray horse came in 3rd- yay for the gray!

Thanks, Jenn. I actually missed the race yesterday, but I just watched it online. Good race. I think Creative Minister was boxed out on the rail when he wanted to make his move. All things considered, finishing third was a kind of win for him. There are a few things I don’t like about the Triple Crown series. They should put a cap of 12 horses on all three races, and they should be spaced out to every three weeks. I really think that that would increase the odds for a Triple Crown winner, and make it more entertaining to the general public.

But I’m happy for the gray! — YUR

I don’t know what everyone else is seeing, but they’ve completelt changed the way the Jumble looks.

The layout appears to be the same, but all the details are different: the font, background, photos, etc. It’s not bad, just different.

I wasn’t sure, at first, if you made these changes or “Them”.

Regardless, it still works. I think it was a couple years back that there were big changes; we got used to that, too.

I have noticed that the posts seem to be a little elongated, lwc. The recent changes in composition won’t let me color, or embolden, more than a single paragraph at a time. I think it’s probably just more picayune nonsense, designed to make me a paying customer, or something. — YUR

Hi UR, I think Creative Minister was boxed out as well…and I completely agree with you, limit the number of horses in the triple crown races to 12 tops, and space the races to 3 weeks for sure…seems like it would be common sense, but what do I know. .Have a wowser weekend!

I think it’s because common cents always loses out to BIG BUCKS, Jenn! “A standard Kentucky Derby entry fee ranges from $50,600 to $56,000.” With 20 horses that’s well over $1 Million. It’s about $30,000 for the Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes. Late entries also pay a premium. — YUR

“…common cents always loses out to BIG BUCKS…”

That’s very clever, Unc. I like it !

    Keep it up. 🙂
