Clue/Question: Her joke about her husband’s high credit card balance was – – –

Answer: AT HIS EXPENSE
(A pun of bad merit! Credit cards can really be a sneaky curse. They entice you with these ridiculous “introductory” rates, sometimes as low as 0%. And then, after 6 months or a year, it shoots up to 18.15%, 19, 20, up to 24.9% APR (Annual Percentage Rate). Meanwhile, the banks borrow money from the Fed at – now – 0.5%, and only payout 0.03% to 0.06% for interest checking/savings. I know all about the cost of doing business, but the banks are making a fortune off of us, folks. And, don’t even get me started on their late payment fees! Obama supposedly enacted some laws to limit rates and fees, but it doesn’t look like they’re being enforced. Perhaps 45 repealed them? I’m just glad that I have a few cards that charge 13.24%, 10.99% and 9.24%, and I make sure I’m never late.
All of today’s clue words are on the ralis95 clue word database. However, it looks like all of the jumbles are new. None of them tripped me up today. The answer letter layout was a twisty twelve letter jumble. I thought it was admirably cryptic. It wasn’t until I looked at the final answer slots layout that the answer came to me.
Nice little domestic scene cartoon, of a husband and wife exchanging little digs. I just paid some bills – online of course – last night! It’s kind of like a never ending battle. But currently I’m holding my own. Fun Jumble! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
