How To Build A Birdhouse

Answer:  TOUGH AS NAILS

(“I’d rather be a hammer than a nail.  Yes, I would.  If I only could, I surely would.”  Thank you Simon & Garfunkel!  A very beautiful song, utilizing Peruvian flutes, from way back in 1970!  It’s from the Bridge Over Troubled Waters album, which was/is a total masterpiece.  “El Condor Pasa” was actually written by the Peruvian composer Daniel Alomia Robles, even further back, in 1913.  Paul Simon was granted permission to record the song using English lyrics.  It might not be quite as well known as the album’s title track, or “The Boxer”, or “Keep the Customer Satisfied”, but it’s a hauntingly beautiful lilt.

None of the clue words are new.  The first three jumbles do appear to be new though.  The only jumble I can confirm we’ve seen before is “mhsuum”.  I don’t remember any of the jumbles stumping me.  The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble.  Wonderfully cryptic too.

Crafty cartoon!  The younger guy looks like a wiseguy.  Pops is sporting a hat that reads “Sawdust Engineer”, and suspenders.  He’s also holding a nail, along with his experienced hammer.  And, on the workbench – along with the burgeoning birdhouse – is a box of nails!  An amusing Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
