Clue/Question: For the small, burrowing insectivores, their daily routine was – – –
Pre-Answer: Four Words (4-letters) “(4-letters)”, (4-letters) “(4-letters)”
Answer: SAME “MOLE“, SAME “MOLE“
(Cute Jumble pun! “Same ol’, same ol’.” I don’t know how long this expression has been around, but I do remember it being kind of new to me, when I moved to NYC back in May of 1980. Not sure who might have popularized it. The internet has made regionalisms a thing of the past. But I think it’s a pretty universal American euphemism nowadays.
All of today’s clue words are classic clue words. Five of the jumbles are coming up as new for me though. The only one that we’ve definitely seen before is “mconom”. None of them stumped me this morning. The answer letter layout was a super sixteen letter jumble. The final answer slots spacing and the quotation marks were very helpful in getting the final answer. That, and going out of their way NOT to say mole! LOL!
Cute cartoon of the subterranean critters, in one of their many tunnels. I guess under ground their eyes are wide open. It’s only when they come up into the sunshine that they get all squinty! “The Mole People” was one of my favorite childhood horror movies! Haven’t seen it in ages. Fun Sunday Jumble. Be well and do good, friends. Enjoy the Super Bowl!) — YUR
