(Ms. Jameson was a very accomplished and forward thinking woman of the 19th Century. She had a wide range of interests, including early feminism. I like how she uses the word “man” in the general sense, as in the family of man. Too many of today’s feminists take offense to, and seem to want to erase the word “man” from the current lexicon. I don’t think that is helping anyone. This appears to be the first of Anna Jameson’s quotes to be used at the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting these spoilers.
