Clue/Question: Some members of the U.S. House of Representatives ate lunch at the – – –
Answer: “DELEGATE–TESSEN“
(So??? Is this stinky pun . . . full of bologna, or is it corny-beef on rye? I think I smell sauerkraut though. Or, perhaps that’s broccoli rabe, or a sharp provolone that I smell. Lots of pungent and appetizing aromas at either/both kinds of delicatessens. I’m fond of ordering prosciuttini, fresh mozzarella, and roasted peppers on an Italian roll. Mmm, mmm, mmm! That’s goo-ood eating!
All of today’s clue words are already on the ralis95 clue word database. However, all of today’s jumbles appear to be new. None of them stumped me though. But . . . that answer letter layout! That’s another story. Fourteen letters of cryptic wonder! What a jumble! Nothing obvious about it, from my perspective. It took more than a few looks to figure this one out. A real toughie. Well done, guys!
Fine cartoon of Congresspeople dining together at the deli. A diverse looking group, indeed. Just a wild guess, but I’m betting that they’re all Democrats. There are a couple of African-American Republican Congresspeople, but neither of them are female. And, if either dared to fraternize with Democrats their political careers would be over. Our former President would make sure of that. This is what we’ve come to people! A totally dysfunctional government, for a totally polarized electorate. Get off social media, folks. It’s killing democracy. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Hi, Uncle! Those portrayed are actually all the delegates from Congress. Delegates and Representatives are two different designations and abilities. Believe it or not, the party make up is 3 Dems, 2 Repubs and one Independent from this actual group.
A toughie indeed! So, I guess the hyphen means the last five letters don’t have to be a word? I was close…came up with DELEGATE-TENSES. Delegate came quickly.
When I’m doing a jumble and figuring out the clue words, I love seeing all of the letters coming together. Usually I have thoughts like OMG, look at all of those As or Es or whatever. Or … a U? A Y? Where am I going to use that letter in all those letters. Or, OMG … 16 letters in the word!!
Love the jumbles.
Thanks, always, Unc! LL
Hyphen? Yeah, sometimes a part of the pun/word isn’t an acrual word. But other times it is, LL. However, I think the oddball letters make for slightly easier solve. Sorta like an extra clue. — YUR
Ah, yes. From territories and protectorates. I wonder if they hang together because they’re like the non-voting ugly step-children? LOL! It must be nice not having to be so partisan. Thanks for checking in, Jeff. — YUR
