A Beginner's Guide to Magic - Wizard Edition – SpellTheory

Answer:  SPELLBINDING

(Because a book has a binding.  And, this one is full of spells!  I get it.  It’s one of those literal/figurative puns.  I guess we haven’t had one of those in a little while.  They’re a little less stinky.

All of today’s clue words were on the world famous ralis95 clue word database.  But every one of the jumbles appear to be new!  None of them tripped me up though.  The answer letter layout was a very impressive twelve letter jumble.  By itself, there was nothing obvious about it.  But the cartoon and the dialog made for a quick solve.

The best part of today’s Jumble has to be the cartoon!  A great wizard, and a mesmerized apprentice.  An enchanting magic wand, and a massive book of spells.  I thought the raven book holder was a very nice touch.  But the potions and creepy ingredients on the shelves were also pretty cool.  Oh, and also the mortar and pestle on the table.  Great job setting the scene!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Walt Whitman Built Free Verse And Freedom Into His Poetry | Investor's Business Daily

Other lands have their vitality in a few, a class, but we have it in the bulk of our people.”   —   Walt Whitman

(Classic 19th Century optimism.  It carried over into the first half of the 20th, but I fear it kind of petered out in the latter half of the century.  Now, we’re pretty much like those other lands.  It’s what happens when you become too full of yourself.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The Best Delicatessens In Austin

Answer:  DELEGATETESSEN

(So???  Is this stinky pun . . . full of bologna, or is it corny-beef on rye?  I think I smell sauerkraut though.  Or, perhaps that’s broccoli rabe, or a sharp provolone that I smell.  Lots of pungent and appetizing aromas at either/both kinds of delicatessens.  I’m fond of ordering prosciuttini, fresh mozzarella, and roasted peppers on an Italian roll.  Mmm, mmm, mmm!  That’s goo-ood eating!

All of today’s clue words are already on the ralis95 clue word database.  However, all of today’s jumbles appear to be new.  None of them stumped me though.  But . . . that answer letter layout!  That’s another story.  Fourteen letters of cryptic wonder!  What a jumble!  Nothing obvious about it, from my perspective.  It took more than a few looks to figure this one out.  A real toughie.  Well done, guys!

Fine cartoon of Congresspeople dining together at the deli.  A diverse looking group, indeed.  Just a wild guess, but I’m betting that they’re all Democrats.  There are a couple of African-American Republican Congresspeople, but neither of them are female.  And, if either dared to fraternize with Democrats their political careers would be over.  Our former President would make sure of that.  This is what we’ve come to people!  A totally dysfunctional government, for a totally polarized electorate.  Get off social media, folks.  It’s killing democracy.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
