5 Best Places To Watch A Thunderstorm - Guess Which State is #1? - Farmers' Almanac

Visual Description:  Campers on the storm.

RIQKU  =  QUIRK,  CEGOK  =  GECKO,  CIDNTU  =  INDUCT,  LIROSA  =  SAILOR   —   Giving us:  IRGKNTSI

Clue/Question:  The thunder wasn’t impressive being so distant, but the lightning was – – –

Safety tips: Is it dangerous to shower during thunderstorm? | The Kansas City Star

Answer:  STRIKING

(I could have given you “Lightning Crashes”, by Live, but the song is pretty depressing.  It’s hauntingly beautiful, but far from happy.  This is kind of a standard Jumble pun.  But it’s still a fine pun.  And, it’s been a while since we’ve had one with Claire and David L. Hoyt . . . and pup!

All of the clue words were BRAND NEW!!!  Just kidding.  We’ve seen them all before.  But all of the jumbles did come up as new, for me.  I didn’t have much patience for “lirosa”, so I backed into “sailor”.  Good thing the final answer was pretty obvious.  But the answer letter layout did make for a great eight letter jumble.  Well-crafted!

Great cartoon of the great outdoors!  Sitting out by a crackling fire, watching nature’s fireworks.  If the thunder gets closer/louder David and Claire would do well to take cover.  Lightning is nothing to play with.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Humorist Josh Billings by Lorin Morgan-Richards | Cowboys and indians, Old west, Richard

The morning paper is just as necessary to an American as dew is to the grass.”   —   Josh Billings

(I guess that most of us Boomers – despite being born in the 20th Century – have closer ties to the 19th Century, than these Gen X-ers and the Zoomers, who couldn’t give a flying farthing about newspapers!  I get all out of sorts when my newspaper doesn’t come.  The E-edition is okay, but it’s just not the same.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  They stayed at the beach resort near the Span-France border to – – –

Pergola beach - The Basque Country Beaches in Saint-Jean-de-Luz - Guide du Pays Basque

Answer:  BASQUE IN THE SUN

(Ya gotta love a good literate pun!  I know next to nothing about Basque Country, except that it’s that it’s in northern Spain, and borders France, as the clue/question already told you.  It’s in the western foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, which separate Spain and France.  That’s all I got.  I’m basking in my ignorance.

There were no new clue words again today.  However, all four jumbles are coming up as new.  None of them gave me any trouble.  The answer letter layout was an excellent eleven letter jumble.  I thought it was well-crafted to be cryptic.

Beautiful scene of a couple on the beach.  The Bay of Biscay is supposed to be lovely.  I liked the Pyrenees Mountains in the background.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
