WITCH, XENON, TROPIC, MUTANT — ITHXEONTPIMUT
Jumble was invented in 1954, so it can be hard finding new words to – – –
PUT INTO THE MIX
I just wrote a VERY extensive post for today’s Jumble. I added an appropriate video, and wanted to add another video, but I didn’t hit Enter after the first one, so I hit the Undo icon – as I’ve done numerous times in the past – but instead of just removing the video, WordPress ERASED my ENTIRE post! I was hoping against hope that it was saved somewhere as a Draft, but just the blank came up.
I had given high praise to both of the guys for the great puzzle, and did a whole thing on Xenon, but it was all for naught. Thanks for nothing WordPress! I don’t have the time, or inclination, to recreate all that I wrote because I’m pissed off.
Xenon appears to be new, and perhaps mutant. All the jumbles came up as new.
Sorry guys.
That’s most exasperating, UR! Sorry you had to redo your post. XENON really made me take a second look, and I almost misspelled CRIPTO! Have to commend the Jumble Guys for still finding new words!
I’m sorry about the lost post. Trying to console you, Imagine that it’s 3am and you finally finished the article that’s due at the break of dawn. You have just a few hours to sleep before showing up to work but at least you’ve finished. You press something and… it’s gone. It happened, my friend. It’s not fun…
I can’t say I blame you for being upset. I know I would be. I never would have gotten xenon and came up with a few words for the puzzle but couldn’t put them together. I miss your blog that might have been ! Thanks for all you do !
Thanks, hal. Very often I talk about Jeff’s cartoon, and don’t say a word about David’s jumbled words. But with the post that vanished I was giving him high praise for finding us new clue words. I mentioned that there were eight new words from the July issue of the ralis95 database to the October one. Xenon would make nine. And mutant would make ten. I said that it’s possible we may have had mutant in a previous Sunday Jumble, since ralis95 foes not get/do the Sunday Jumble.
I mentioned how xenon has a number of medical uses, besides being used in certain lighting and lasers.
I mentioned how the verb jumble means to mix up.
I mentioned the big X on David’s computer screen. And, the sleeping dogs. I questioned what was on David’s mug. And, what the square thing was on Jeff’s drawing table. Maybe a cell phone? And, questioned what was on the floor in front of the white dog.
Then I followed up with a music video by F.R. David called “Words don’t come easy”. I wanted to add the Bee Gees song “Words”, and that’s when I ran into the Undo disaster!
I really don’t understand because I’ve used the Undo function to remove a video in the past and that’s all it did. It removed just the video. Not the entire post. So, then I thought like with Microsoft Word that that the Redo would probably bring back what was undone, but it didn’t. And, since the post did take a certain amount of time I was hoping that there was an auto-save version in my Drafts folder, but no. Just the one that had the subject only.
Eh! What’s done is done. Even though I’ve gotten used to the new WordPress format, I still don’t like it. And, this just gave me another reason for not liking it. LOL!

Thanks, Wes.
We had this pre-Lotus Notes messaging service at the bank where I worked, back in the stone age. If you didn’t do something to save it every few minutes – I don’t remember how many – the session would expire and you’d lose everything you were writing. You had to learn – the hard way – to type a few lines, save it, and type some more, save it, etc., before you could send a full memo. That had to be late ’80s – early ’90s. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was ponderous. I was so happy when they got Lotus Notes.
I hope yours didn’t happen with WordPress! Your weekly posts are pretty substantial! — YUR
Thanks, Anne! I too thought overall it was a pretty challenging Jumble. I did kind of a quick recap of the erased post when I replied to hal’s comment. It was mostly more griping, but I brought up highlights of what was lost. Today is a new day. Thanks for caring! — YUR
Hi UR…If it’s any consolation…Mutant is a new word. I too wrote about Jumble meaning to MIX things up. The X on David’s screen just designates the blank “canvas” that Jeff will perform his magic on, and the squares represent the places for the words and the solution. In fact, if you look closely at Jeff’s tablet, you’ll see that he’s drawing the exact scene itself, in real time. And the T-Shirt he’s wearing is Wilco’s “Smile Ringer”. The square thing on his desk is a cell phone, but all I could manage to see on it was what I think to be the word “Jumble”. The 3 dogs are David’s Miss Daisy Dog, and Jeff’s two pups, Gizmo, left, and Fifi, right…and what lies between them is a chew toy. David’s mug shows Mount Rainier, and reads the same. And I too sang David’s praises…for what he creates day in and day out…I think that about covers it, and I’m sorry you lost all your work. I hope this helps a little…Have a good night, UR. Be well, and stay safe…🙋🏻♀️

Thanks, Ange. In my first – now lost – post I did mention that Jeff was drawing that day’s Jumble. You cleared up the unreadable questions. I knew David’s mug was probably some park, or something. I guessed that the squiggly thing on the floor was a chew toy. I didn’t concern myself with Jeff’s t-shirt, because one can safely assume it’s going to be something Wilco. It was truly a great Jumble. Ralis95 should be happy to know that mutant was not a missed clue word.
Two new clue words is definitely a rarity these days!
Thanks for commiserating with me. I really wish that WordPress had left well enough alone. The so-called “Classic” mode is close to the original, but it is by no means the same as the original. The original was much more like Word, and much more forgiving. Make a mistake with this new “Classic” and you can really be hurt.

Unc,
When you mentioned pre-Lotus Notes were you referring to Domino ?
ehhhh! That COULD be it, lwc. But I wouldn’t swear to it. It’s not ringing any bells. But thanks! — YUR
