Answer: EVEN-TEMPERED

(I was born on an even day, in an even month, in an odd year. Exactly what that means . . . I have no friggin’ idea. Numerology can be kind of fun, sometimes. Like both the assassins of Abe Lincoln and John F. Kennedy having three names, and both their full names added up to 15 letters, and all the other similarities. Could there be some deeper meaning to these kind of things? Or, is it all just coincidence? Most of our issues with numbers stem from age old superstitions, from various cultures. The number 7 is lucky, but 13 is unlucky? And 666 is downright evil? The Chinese feel the number 4 is unlucky, because it sounds like their word for death. We really need numbers for so much in life. Can we really afford to favor some, and disfavor others? We just have to accept them for the mathematical objects that they are.

There were no new clue words today. Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. But we’ve definitely seen “greev” in past jumbles. The answer letter layout was a twelve letter jumble, teeming with E’s. I’m sure that that helped most of us to come up with a quick solution to this puzzle.

Great cartoon of some animated numerals, on some kind of geometric plane. The grid could represent how numbers go on forever. Maybe Jeff is a part-time astrophysicist, or something. Everyone has some kind of hobby, don’t they? Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.”   —   William Shakespeare

(Okay.  You can’t afford to be a single SECOND late . . . in life and death situations.  I get that.  But just try to show up to a party three hours before it starts, and see how the host/hostess welcomes you!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
