Clue/Question:  A dog that knows which houses to stop at to get snacks – – –

Answer:  IS “TREAT“ SMART

(These dogs are from a bygone era.  Just about every community, that I can think of, has instituted a leash law.  It’s mainly for the dogs’ protection, but also so folks don’t end up with stray dog doo on their precious, pristine lawns!  Never mind that the vast majority of folks almost never step foot on their lawns!  They’re tended to by landscape companies, and the owners occasionally glance at them from their windows, or as they drive up their driveways and into their garages.  Too many Americans have become domestic isolationists!  Not yer Uncle though!  He’s out there two, three, sometimes four times a day, waving to – and talking to – whoever he sees.  American hospitality still lives, for some of us. 

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “bartib” in at least on prior Jumble.  Some people might argue that “rhythm” is a word that uses only consonants, but the letter Y is a bit of a switch-hitter.  Most of us remember that the vowels are: A, E, I, O, U . . . and sometimes Y.  Some folks forget about that sometimes part!  The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble.  Sufficiently cryptic.  I picked up on the “Lady and the Tramp” vibe, so it was a quick solve.

Fine cartoon of the wandering pups.  Hmm!  The look suspiciously like Jeff’s dogs.  I sure hope that he doesn’t let his dogs run free.  The pooches could end up in the pound, and Jeff could be stuck paying a ticket/fine!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
