Antique, Bookcase, English, Oak, Victorian Shelf - Antiques Atlas

Answer:  LONG SHELF LIFE

(I like it!  It’s adequately stinky.  And, a nice play on words.  They generally use the term “shelf life” in describing certain foods.  Dry goods mostly.  How long will they last – unopened – on your pantry shelf.  It’s similar to the ubiquitous “expiration date” on a lot of foods and medications.  It gives you a general idea of how long something is safe to eat/consume.  Some foods will have a “Use by date”.  And, some will say “Sell by date”.  You can still use something past its “Sell by” date, within reason.  The “Use by dates” and “expiration dates” are more serious.  But even they are more of a guide, than a hard and fast rule.  You need to use both your senses, and common sense, when it comes to these dates.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  It turns out that yesterday’s “heyday” had been used back in January of 2019.  And, of course it was a Sunday.  Our good friend ralis95 knows about it now!  All four of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  No stumpers today.  The answer letter layout was an impressive thirteen letter jumble.  But the final answer kind of jumped off the page, for me.

Cute cartoon of an antique shop.  Some people are always going to appreciate antiques, but the general popularity has waned over the last decade, or so.  They can be relatively expensive, and some require some special care.  Most people today are looking for cheaper, more care-free furnishings.  What I like most about antiques are the rich histories that come with them, and of course the craftsmanship.  They’re from a bygone time.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
