“I like to sit around the pool, listen to music, barbecue, grill, stuff like that. Just the guy next door, I guess.” — Dale Earnhardt Jr.
(Isn’t barbecuing and grilling the same thing? It is where I come from! How about you folks from down South? What do you say? This was a pretty quick solve for me. The hardest part was coming up with the author. First Dale Earnhardt quote at the Cryptoquote! So, we welcome Dale Jr. to the Cryptoquote Club today! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Actually, no !
I don’t know what y’all Yankees do up North, but down here there’s a fine distinction between the two.
Grilling is essentially cooking anything over a open flame. Any idiot can do that.
But barbecuing is only for meat and it’s a finely crafted artform for cooking meat that requires skill and finesse. The meat has to be carefully rubbed with well selected seasonings and roasted cautiously over a closely tended flame until just the right moment.
Of course, there’s more to say on the subject, but that’s enough to get folks started.
Good luck !
