Leo Tolstoy - THE GREAT PEACEMAKERS

It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.”   —   Leo Tolstoy

(Even though there are a lot of physically attractive people out there who are total A-holes, there are plenty who are actually very good too.  But we do make many stupid assumptions based on appearances alone.  Not smart!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Grubs in the spring no big thing - Insects in the City

Visual Description:  The Lawn Killer family!

BTHIA  =  HABIT,  SMYUT  =  MUSTY,  BFIREB  =  FIBBER,  GONLUE  =  LOUNGE   —   Giving us:  BYBRUG

Clue/Question:  The newly-hatched, worm-like baby beetle needed cleaning because it was so – – –

Curious Kids: how do magpies detect worms and other food underground?

Answer:  GRUBBY

(In real life grubs are pretty disgusting!  The larvae eat the roots of your grass.  Both raccoons and skunks love to eat grubs, but they kind of dig up your lawn to get to them.  So, that is not optimal.  I’m sure there must be some kind of birds that enjoys eating them.  At least they won’t damage your lawn getting at them.

All of today’s clue words showed up on the ralis95 clue word database.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new.  However, we have seen “smyut” in past Jumbles.  They all came to me pretty quickly.  The answer letter layout was a sparse – like a grubbed out lawn – six letter jumble.  It made for a quick solve.

The cartoon does a great job of making them look cute.  Gotta love dad’s glasses and mustache and beard!  Dig the fangs on the “baby”!  Ugh!  All creatures serve some purpose in this world, but grubs are just a nuisance in Man’s world.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Apple TV+ announces programming partnership with Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai - Apple

One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world.”   —   Malala Yousafzai

(I always have a hard time coming up with her last name!  Yes, I had to Google it.  I guess it must be my 20th Century, Anglo/Euro-centric mindset!  I thought I was pretty good coming up with her first name on my own!  Very cool lady though.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Relish Chicago Hot Dogs - Chicago Hot Dog Stand offering Italian Ice and Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

Visual Description:  Dirty water delights!

SRAHH  =  HARSH,  GITID  =  DIGIT,  VORMEE  =  REMOVE,  TGEHNL  =  LENGTH   —   Giving us:  RSHDITEMELEH

Clue/Question:  She made her own sweet pickled condiments, and her customers – – –

Chicago-style hot dog - Wikiwand

Answer:  RELISHED THEM

(This one feels a little like a repeat.  But I’d have to consult the Jumble historian for confirmation of such.  Ever since I was a little kid, I always liked my hot dogs as basic as possible.  I know that some people swear by sauerkraut, relish, cheese, raw or caramelized onions, or pickle spears, etc.  And of course mustard.  A lot of people insist that a hot dog MUST have mustard on it, and that ketchup is some kind of blasphemy!  Then call me a blasphemer . . . I’m a ketchup man.  I don’t let societal conventions rule my comestible consumption.  I do love a good chili dog though!  Sometimes with raw onions, and sometimes with cheese.  And, where I grew up they make this great meat hot sauce.  It’s not tomato-y, like chili, but it has a great hot kick to it.  And – like a good chili – it’s meaty!  Apologies to all my friends on the Midway, but I could never eat a Chicago hot dog . . . for obvious reasons.

All of this day’s clue words already reside on the world famous ralis95 clue word database.  One of the jumbles did come up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “srahh”, “gitid” and “vormee” in past Jumbles.  They all came to me right away though.  The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble.  But the clue/question was very leading, so it was a quick solve.

Fun cartoon of a woman running her hot dog cart!  Her customers definitely look satisfied.  She made them so very happy!  Nutritionist/dieticians say not to eat hot dogs too frequently.  The relish is probably the healthiest thing they’re eating.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
