“No matter who you meet in life, you take something from them, positive or negative.” — Gary Allan
(I think I take away more positive than negative. It’s what I’m always looking for, so that’s what I usually see. This looks to be the first Garry Allan quote at the Cryptoquote, so we welcome Gary to the Cryptoquote Club today. Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR

Clue/Question: The restaurant’s food and service kept getting worse, and customers – – –
Answer: WERE FED UP
(Just not with food! Diners are such a staple of the greater metropolitan New York area. They’re very popular because they are casual, and they generally offer a lot of variety. And, a lot of them are open late, with some being open 24 hours. The wife and I usually hit one up at least once a week. Nine times out of ten I’m going to order something with eggs. I just love eggs with either bacon, sausage or hash! The wife tries to vary it some, but her fallback is a Western Omelet with a side of bacon. At most places the wait staff has been there for years and years. Some can be a little surly, or slow, but you just have to roll with it. Most of them are stand alone buildings, with some actually being old train diner cars, but some of them are storefronts in shopping plazas/strip malls. Our favorite is Hogan’s in Orangeburg. Great wait staff and consistently good food. It’s right next to our foot massage place!
We’ve seen all of these clue words before. Three of the jumbles are coming up as new, for me. But we’ve definitely seen “frofet” in the past. They all came to me right away this morning. The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble. I thought it was wonderfully cryptic. The final answer slots were what gave me the answer so quickly.
Great diner scene cartoon. We always sit at a booth when we go to a diner. This wait staff looks like they don’t take their job very seriously. The short order cook is distracted by his phone, and it looks like a grease fire is going on behind him. And, the lady diner’s grilled cheese sandwich looks exceedingly well done. AKA: burnt! Oh well. They can always post a nasty Yelp* review! Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR
