One of Harlem's Most Popular Burgers Doesn't Show Up on Yelp - Eater NY

Visual Description:  Sydney showing Kathy the Big Apple.

RKACN  =  CRANK,  ASETE  =  TEASE,  TARREH  =  RATHER,  ARFOLM  =  FORMAL   —   Giving us:  CTARAAL

Clue/Question:  The mobile food vendor sold hot dogs, pretzels, soft drinks and more – – –

Health department will rate city's food carts, trucks

Answer:  A LA CART

(Food carts are ubiquitous in Manhattan.  Especially in high tourist areas, like down in the Battery, Wall Street, Greenwich Village, Time Square and the Theater District, and all around Central Park and the Museum Mile.  Some are more reasonable than others, depending on their location.  Every now and then I get a hankering for a good ol’ dirty water dog!   More times than not they are Sabrett hot dogs.  But there are also a lot of specialty carts, not just your basic hot dog carts.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Three of the jumbles are coming up as new for me.  Only “tarreh” has definitely been used.  And, that’s the only one to trip me up some.  The answer letter layout was a slight seven letter jumble.  But the final answer was fairly obvious to me.

Fun cartoon of Jeff’s Mrs. and daughter.  I guess Sidney is studying in NYC.  FIT maybe?  I think Jeff mentioned it sometime before.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  If circles, ovals, triangles, squares, etc. came to life, they’d all have – – –

Geometric Shapes Cartoon Images, Stock Photos & Vectors | Shutterstock

Answer:  SHAPELY BODIES

(Kind of a double pun!  Bodies is one of the synonyms for shapes.  And, the boys did their darnedest NOT to say the word shape.  And, yes.  Round is a shape . . . even as it applies to the human body.  Remember, there is no shame in being round.  Or lumpy.  Or bony.  Or fit, I suppose.  After all, Chris Farley looked just as good as Patrick Swayze in a Speedo, in that Chippendale’s skit, on SNL!  Didn’t he???

None of today’s clue words is a new edition to the ralis95 clue word database.  However, all of the jumbles appear to be so.  I sorta BEFELL on one of them yesterday though!  Yer Uncle might be growing FEEBLE!  I blame all of those angularly contoured letters!  No problems today!  Yay!  The answer letter layout was thrill-a-minute thirteen letter jumble.  At first I tried to make the second word SHAPES, but I couldn’t make sense of BYIELDO.  But there was just enough there for me to see BODIES, and quickly figured out SHAPELY.

Cute geometric shapes cartoon.  I think that Mr. Triangle should be sent to Diversity Sensitivity Training!  His comment could result in a sexual harassment lawsuit!  Just don’t sue Jeff, David, or The Jumble, please!  It’s just artistic license, with cartoon figures.  No shapes were injured in the drawing of this cartoon!  I have that on good authority.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Lake Street Dive: A Breakout Band on the Wait - WSJ

The contemplation of beauty causes the soul to grow wings.”   —   Plato

(So, it has nothing to do with Red Bull???  I don’t think this quote needs any interpretation.  But contemplate the beauty of Rachael Price’s voice on this marvelous song!  So much better than anything you’ll hear on the Pop stations.  Be well and do good, friends.)    —   YUR

Happy 36th birthday to Rachael Price, of Lake Street Dive!

Why Are My Eyes So Dry? 6 Causes of Dry Eyes & How To Treat Them

Visual Description:  . . . and nary a drop to drip!

BEFELE  =  FEEBLE,  SRYGSA  =  GRASSY,  NEOYRD  =  YONDER,  UOQAEP  =  OPAQUE,  FNITNA  =  INFANT,  HMPIRS  =  SHRIMP   —   Giving us:  EEGSSYOROAEIFSHR

Clue/Question:  When she saw that they were out of the drops she was looking for, it was – – –

Pre-Answer:  Five Words  (1-letter)  “(4-letters)”  (3-letters)  (4-letters)  (4-letters)

10 Common Causes Of Red, Bloodshot Eyes | Men's Health

Answer:  A SIGH FOR SORE EYES

(All she could do was sigh!  I don’t think she could produce any tears.  I hate it when I get dry scratchy eyes.  They look like crap and they feel like crap.  They always tell you not to rub your eyes, but sometimes that’s all you can do!  I usually start my day with a warm wet compress, as I have a tear duct issue.  A washcloth/facecloth does the trick.

None of today’s clue words are new.  But I think that FEEBLE should be taken off of the list!  The letters BEFELE can also spell BEFELL, which is the acceptable past tense of BEFALL.  I thought that the jumble was a little obvious for BEFELL, but I was pretty sure it was a legit word.  My initial answer letter layout started with FL instead of EE, but I picked up on the final answer pun right away.  I realized I needed EE, and then I saw FEEBLE.  I Googled BEFELL, and it came up as past tense of BEFALL, and as I typed this spoiler even WordPress accepted BEFELL, so I really think we need to reconsider/remove FEEBLE as a non-qualifying Jumble clue word!  All of the jumbles came up as new for me though.  And, the answer letter layout was a superlative sixteen letter jumble!

Fine cartoon of a shopper at the pharmacy counter.  I hate when they’re out of what I really want/need!  It makes you wonder:  Why me???  Oh, well. She can always try a different drug store.  Or, settle for the warm wet compress.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Spotlight: R. Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller - New Dimensions Radio

I just invent, then wait until man comes around to needing what I have invented.”   —   Buckminster Fuller

(I guess this means that ol’ Bucky considered himself more than a mere man.  A lot of geniuses are pretty arrogant, I guess.  Leonardo da Vinci seemed more humble than this though.  I guess Buckminster was just fuller of himself!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Ace Frehley | Discography | Discogs

My life has been a roller coaster ride, but somehow I’ve always been able to land on my feet and still play the guitar.”   —   Ace Frehley

(Hey!  I was just celebrating Gen Simmons birthday three days ago, and now here we are with a quote from Ace Frehley!  Who’d a thunk it?  This is our first quote at the Cryptoquote from the KISS rocker, so we welcome Ace to the Cryptoquote Club today!  And now I’m giving you his hit song from his solo album of 1978!  “Many years since I’ve been here.”  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  The marathon runner retired after her career – – –

Video : How to Prepare for a Marathon by Joan Benoit Samuelson | RunnerUniverse

Answer:  RAN ITS COURSE

(Ya know, they say that a persons’ nose and his ears grow bigger and bigger as they age.  So, why then does the cartilage in our joints seem to shrink as we age?  Is this some kind of cosmic joke, or did God simply make a mistake when he designed us?  That stinking shrinking cartilage is why people lose height as they age – because the cartilage between their vertebrae shrinks – and why most of us develop knee problems, that ultimately result in knee replacement surgery.  And, all the while we start looking more and more like Dumbo the friggin’ elephant!  They say you cannot petition the Lord!  But I think we should be able to put together a nice class action lawsuit against him!  Who’s with me???

All classic Jumble clue words today.  Even though I don’t recall seeing “curry” before.  However, all of today’s jumbles are coming up as new.  None of them stumped me though.  The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble.  Probably should’ve switched “sixty” and “curry”, just to get RUN out of the middle.  I think – subliminally – that might have set me on the course of the final answer.

Nice cartoon of the jock’s wall of fame.  Do these marathon runners get to keep a certain number?  I always thought they were just assigned a certain/different number for each race.  Or, is this some kind of stylized 26.2, the length of marathon races?  I regularly run my mouth.  And, occasionally I have to run to the bathroom.  But otherwise I’m like Fats Domino . . . “I’m Walking!  Yes, indeed.”  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  She suggested that they get married on horseback, and he thought it was a – – –

1,541 BEST Cowboy Couple Riding Horse IMAGES, STOCK PHOTOS & VECTORS | Adobe Stock

Answer: BRIDE IDEA

(At the very least a bride-to-be idea!  Yeah, this is a cute pun.  I wonder if the entire bridal party is going to be on horseback too?  That could be fun.  The person carrying the bridal gown train would have to watch her step though!

There were no new clue words today.  However, all of today’s jumbles appear to be new.  For some strange reason, I originally wrote down FORADE!  I guess I was thinking it had to do with FORAY, or something.  But as I looked at the nine letter jumble, that was the answer letter layout, I quickly reassessed that decision.  I don’t know why FEDORA didn’t come to me right away.  It’s one of Hoyt’s favorite clue words!  The quotation marks were a big clue to getting the final answer.

Cute horsey/ranch cartoon.  I was a little surprised they were at the “Scramble Ranch”, and not the Jumble Ranch.  But I guess they just wanted to mix things up a bit.  Have a great weekend everyone!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Gwendolyn Brooks' "We Real Cool" and "The Bean Eaters" - Owlcation

To be in love is to touch with a lighter hand.  In yourself you stretch, you are well.”   —   Gwendolyn Brooks

(I know I always considered being in love to be a huge positive.  I’m guessing this is a line from one of her poems.  Does anyone know for sure?  Ms. Brooks was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize, way back in 1950, for her poem “Annie Allen”.  And, among her many honors, she was Poet Laureate of Illinois for 32 years.  And today she is being inducted into the Cryptoquote Club!  The honors just keep on coming!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
