(Oh, yeah! That’s a stinker, alright. No bout a doubt it. But how long before “gal” ends up on the scrap heap of formerly acceptable euphemisms and slang? You just know that some extremist is going label the word as “sexist”, or somehow “demeaning”. Of course, as with all of the other “cancelled” words – and such – there are good intentions behind them. But as the old saying goes: “The road to hell is paved with good intentions!” And, that is a path that I – for one – choose not to travel.
All of today’s clue words already reside on the ralis95 clue word database. However, every sing-gal jumble has come up as new, for me. I did not see “final” . . . initially. And, I’m sure that “nelcga” got some thinking that it was going to be a two syllable word. The answer letter layout was a swell-egant eleven letter jumble. Not obvious in the least. As usual, the quotation marks and the hyphen were the big clues.

No argument here, UR. It never ceases to amaze me how David manages to come up with all these puzzles, day after day, month after month…ad Infinitum…The man’s a genius in my book. He’s the Energizer Bunny of the Puzzle World! 😉… And besides, there’s nothing wrong with a little déjà vu every once in a while, just to shake things up a bit. Glad all is well with you and yours…Things here in lower NY are holding steady. A lot more rain than we bargained for…but hey, things could always be worse, right? I’ve relaxed mask wearing a little. I keep one in my car always. And, still wear it when I shop. But, even though I’m fully vaccinated, I could always become a carrier, and infect someone who hasn’t been vaccinated. — YUR
True Unc (CoVid comment).. I’ve started wearing my mask in stores, larger groups of people, restaurants until I’ve ordered. I know several people who refuse to take the shots, and they don’t believe in masks. So, I’m hoping I avoid getting the virus from the naysayers, and, since I’m inoculated, if I do, it will be mild. Our HOA company head has Co-Vid, as does her husband (is in the hospital),, and family — child/husb, and grand children. EGAD! Fortunately no one in the neighborhood, as far as we know, has had any direct contact with her. EGAD!
“Getting* the virus after being vaccinated/inoculated – usually – will mean that you’ve just tested positive. The chances that you actually show symptoms/get sick are extremely low. BUT the big problem IS – despite your being relatively safe – now you are a CARRIER, and you could potentially infect some people who have NOT been vaccinated!
That is reason enough for me to continue mask wearing, until enough of the reluctant folk finally come around and get vaccinated. Knowing that I inadvertently passed it on to someone, and they got very sick, or worse, would be hard for me to live with.
I don’t particularly enjoy wearing the masks, and even though I don’t consider myself an “anti-vaxxer” I have never taken the flu vaccine in my entire life. So, to an extent, I understand the “my body, my choice” argument. It’s just that their rationale is so flawed, and based on misinformation. But trying to reason with so many of these people is like trying to get them to give up/change their religion! No amount logic and evidence will be enough to get them to change their minds.
The only positive of this more virulent Delta Variant, that is mainly affecting the regions with the lowest vaccination rates, is that there has been a marked increase in people FINALLY asking, and getting, the vaccine. Sometimes this kind of thing really has to hit home before people finally come around.

An otherwise healthy local 31 year old pregnant girl passed away in hospital yesterday after coming down very ill with CoVid. They took the baby girl, who is in good condition, via C-section, and the mom had to be put on a ventilator. She was too sick. This is a deadly, heinous disease. People need to realize this. That ‘cancer’ is still out there. LL
Unfortunately, most of the vaccine reluctant view these kind of stories as anecdotal. Many of them won’t/don’t act until it hits extremely close to home. There are numerous stories about Covid patients in hospitals BEGGING for the vaccine, not realizing that the vaccine is designed to PREVENT you from catching it, or mitigating the effects of Covid. It can’t CURE you once you have it. It’s sad. Some of these same people are calling it a “Plandemic”, saying that those who receive the vaccine will die within 2 – 3 years. They are being mislead. Some of them willingly. If this was some “plan” to reduce the world’s population, then it must be a Republican conspiracy, because they are (more) the ones who will inherit the world!
