Cryptoquote Spoiler – 05/07/21

(In my newspaper both the words “alike” and “way” are broken up on two lines.  Since I’ve seen this a couple of times before it didn’t slow me down any.  The “it’s” and “isn’t” were great starting points.  Even though I see no mention of it, I’d venture to guess that Billie was a mixture of Black and White.  This looks to be the first Billie holiday quote to be used at the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting the spoilers.  So, we welcome “Lady Day” to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 05/07/21

Clue/Question:  The vineyard’s new cafe was off to a great start with customers – – –

Answer:  POURING IN

(A piquant pun, both well-balanced and velvety, with good body and a marvelous bouquet!  Robust, and slightly spicy, with just a hint of cherry and currants.  Now, I’m no oenophile, but I’d drink that!  How about you guys?  Shall we uncork a nice Cabernet?

All classic clue words today.  Two of the jumbles appear to be nouveau, but we’ve definitely seen both “cuone” and “irhoda” at some point in the past.  They all came to me immediately.  The answer letter layout was a fine – as wine – nine letter jumble.  It was crisp, clean and complex.  But the cartoon gave some great visual clues to the final answer.

It looks like their cafe looks out over the vineyard.  You can see the rows of vines out the windows.  With the low rolling hills in the background it looks a little like the Finger Lakes region of Western New York, but it could be any number of places.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
