Clue/Question: The protectors at Buckingham Palace can’t sit down on the job, so they – – –
Answer: STAND GUARD
(Very punny! Besides not being able to sit, they’re also not supposed to speak, or show any emotion. They’re supposed to be very stoic. I don’t if they still allow tourists to get up close to them, but people used to try to get them crack a smile. They’re supposed to keep a stiff upper lip, don’t ya know! The majority of them remain stone-faced, but occasionally one will crack up.
No new clue words today, but all of the jumbles appear to be new. None of them tripped me up at all today. The answer letter layout was tasty ten letter jumble. Fairly cryptic. But today’s final answer wasn’t the stiffest of challenges.
Cute cartoon of tourists taking pics of The Queen’s Guard. I seem to remember there was a heat wave last Summer, where – at least – one of the guards passed out from heat stroke. The tall fuzzy hats are made of bearskin, and they’re both heavy and hot! I wouldn’t be surprised if their red tunics were made of wool too. Traditions persist in the face of logic and sanity! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
