“Money is my military, each dollar a soldier. I never send my money into battle unprepared and undefended.” — Kevin O’Leary
(Kevin, Kevin, Kevin! It’s a pack of gum, for Chrissakes! Lighten up, brother! I guess Kevin never jokes when it comes to money. Fairly challenging cryptogram today! This appears to be the first Kevin O’Leary quote to be used at the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting these spoilers at least. So, we welcome Kevin to the Cryptoquote Club today. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

Clue/Question: The stallion with the leg cramp had a – – –
Answer: CHARLEY HORSE
(A Charley horse certainly is not going to improve Helium’s odds today! He’s opened this morning at 50 – 1 odds! But, it looks like people are putting some money on him. He’s dropped to 40 – 1. He’s got a good trainer and jockey, and he’s coming off a victory in the Tampa Bay Derby, also at a Mile and 1/16th. He beat the favorite that day, Hidden Stash, who lines up next to him today. Keep an eye on those two long-shots. They’ll be next to today’s – rare gray – favorite, Essential Quality, at 5 – 2. There is another paler gray entry today in Soup and Sandwich, who’s currently at 24 – 1, but will be coming way out of the 19 hole. With 19 horses in today’s field you just never know who might prevail. That’s just too damn many horses to be in a race, and to me, it’s not fair to the quality horses that – should – have a more legitimate chance at the Triple Crown. Too many horses just muddles things up, can lead to fouls and disqualifications, and potentially to injury, to both horse and jockey. They should cap it at 14 horses . . . tops!
No new entries to the ralis95 clue word database. Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen both “dueel” and “griehh” at some earlier point in time. It took me a couple of looks to see “cavort”. Great word though. The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble. The term Charley Horse goes back to the 1880s, and originated with baseball players. There are a few different stories behind the phrase, but they all seem to involve how older horses walk – stiffly.
Great cartoon of a horse and his trainer. The horse looks a little like Helium, so I think it’s a sign, from the gods! I’m not saying that he’s necessarily going to win, but at those odds even a Place or Show bet would bring a nice return. And, if you were to wheel him into a trifecta – and he finishes in the money – that would be a sweet payout! OTB is closed by me though, and I don’t want to get started on internet betting. But I will be watching, with a beer or two, and rooting for Helium to make a good showing. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
