And hear you will, Uncle. lol The quote says something about his ego but also about his gumption to play the game. He’s created one of the most entertaining brands of football – sorry, that one we call ‘American’ football -, spontaneous, mischievous, deadly all over the pitch. His was a tradition cut straight from the clownish geniality of Garrincha, a star in the 60s. There was something extra about Ronaldinho’s game, the way he could fool his opponents with a trick out of thin air making, like Garrincha, the bleaches laugh with pleasure in the process. I expected him to become an ambassador of the game, just like Beckham is now but much more fun, his toothy smile inspiring kids to become like him. But it wasn’t to be. Maybe he enjoyed too much partying, too many sycophants blowing hot air under his you-know-what. Bad advice, perhaps, immaturity, for certain, too much of this, not enough of that, I don’t know. Never mind the longevity of modern athletes, his career was shorter than even players now long gone. Very sad. Fortunately, the art of his football can be found online. Cheers
