Clue/Question:  The story about Peter Pan being forever young – – –

The Reader's Notebook: Cyril Ritchard | WMKY

Answer:  NEVER GROWS OLD

(Just like doing the Jumble . . . on a daily basis!  Some things never grow old.  When I was a kid I was a big fan of both the Disney cartoon of Peter Pan, and the NBC television broadcast of the Mary Martin version that ran a number of times in the early ’60s.  Very wholesome, family entertainment.  For many years Cyril Ritchard was THE Captain Hook!  But Dustin Hoffman did a wonderful job too in “Hook”, with Robin Williams as The Pan, and Julia Roberts as Tinker Bell.  From what I’ve heard/read, the J.M. Barrie story was the first instance of the name Wendy.  Before that it never existed!

All of today’s clue words were like classic television reruns.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen both “pwrie” and “ssevur” before.  But that didn’t stop me from struggling to get “versus”!  That’s a sneaky jumble.  The answer letter layout was an extensive thirteen letter jumble.  Wonderfully cryptic!  I think the final answer slots were what clued me into the answer so quickly.

Great cartoon of the three generations watching what looks to be the Disney cartoon version.  I’ve always enjoyed the story.  Even the Johnny Depp backstory, “Finding Neverland”.  Maybe that means yer Uncle never grows old?  Hey, I’ll always be just a big, good-natured kid!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

I think you’re half right Unc.

The name was rare before Peter Pan, but was originally masculine.
It’s hard to think of it that way.

I’m seeing that now, lwc. Kinda like Randy or Andy, or even Sandy. I also remember a ranch hand on Bonanza name Candy. I guess it beats being a boy named Sue! — YUR
