Cryptoquote Spoiler – 04/13/21

Fred And Ginger Cheered Us Up During The Depression. Might They Do It Again? : NPR

The only way to enjoy anything in this life is to earn it first.”   —   Ginger Rogers

(Just having everything given to you makes you spoiled and lazy.  I’ve always heard that for almost every great move that Fred Astaire made, Ginger had to make it going backwards . . . and in high heels!  This appears to be the first Ginger Rogers quote to be used in a Cryptoquote!  So, today we wish Ms. Rogers a long overdue welcome to the Cryptoquote Club.  And, now I’m reminded of my own sweet Ginger.  Sweetest dog of all time!  And, she loved to dance too!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Answer:  GRIN AND BEAR IT

(Oh, don’t be such a bear!  A lot of people, especially guys, seem to have a problem smiling, whether it be for photos, or just in general.  I don’t know if they think it’s a sign of weakness, or what, but they always try to look so serious.  I think it’s dumb, because life is too short to be always wearing a puss.  Enjoy your here and now, because tomorrow you could be saying Ciao . . . to this mortal coil.

All of today’s clue words are oldies but goodies.  A couple of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve seen “grtie” and “diribe” at some earlier point in time.  The only one that took me a second look was “diribe”.  The answer letter layout was a thrilling thirteen letter jumble.  If it weren’t for the totality of the cartoon subjects, the lead up in the clue/question, and the layout of the final answer slots, this jumble would’ve been tough to unscramble!

Gotta love a talking animals cartoon.  Especially one with a Yogi Bear theme!  It looks like Yogi’s California cousins are visiting Jellystone Park for a family vacation.  No sign of Ranger Smith, or Boo-Boo!  We used to have a newspaper cartoon called Grin and Bear It!  I really enjoyed that too, even though it was almost never about bears.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
