“I think self-awareness is probably the most important thing toward being a champion.” —Billie Jean King
(And, I’d have to agree with the great champion! This appears to be the first Billie Jean King quote to be used at the Cryptoquote, since I’ve been posting these spoilers. So, we welcome Ms. King to the Cryptoquote Club today! Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Clue/Question: The excavation for their new home’s foundation was done, and they liked it – – –
Answer: A“HOLE“ LOT
(I’m pretty sure we’ve seen this pun a time, or two, before. But, I guess you really can’t go wrong with the classics. Now, it will be time for the family to pour a foundation.
There were no new clue words today. However, every single jumble came up as new, for me. I didn’t struggle with any of them though. The answer letter layout was a great eight letter jumble. But, it’s easy to recognize the classics.
Fine cartoon of a family visiting the housing development where they soon will live. I guess kids still love to play in the dirt. I know I always did. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
“You can gain more control of your life by paying closer attention to the little things.” — Emily Dickinson
(Did she says this at the same time she said: “Take care of the small things and the big things take care of themselves.”, or was this just kind of a recurring theme with her? There’s definitely a lot of truth in it. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
Clue/Question: Not everyone believes that marriage is for them, but those who do – – –
Answer: ESPOUSE IT
(A word that isn’t the most common of words! But, it did make for a good pun-swer. And, in the next paragraph I’ll tell you why I DIDN’T get the final answer!
No new clue words this day. Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve seen both “tuyho” and “sidya” in the past. I got all four clue words with absolutely no problem. But then what did your wisenheimer uncle do??? He writes out: UTISEODES What could you do with THAT??? I’ll tell you what: NOTHING! I even let my daughter look at it, and then my visiting step-son look at it. They both assumed that I had written out the appropriate answer letters. I guess it was the distraction of having a house guest, who I hadn’t seen in well over a year, that both contributed to my initial faux pas, and to my not bothering to double check MY answer letter layout, upon NOT coming up with a final answer. We put it aside and then went on to do other things. Even after seeing the answer in today’s paper I did not catch my error until I started to post this “spoiler”! Well, we all had a swell time yesterday – and today, for that matter – and that’s the more important thing.
Nice cartoon of the celebrating couples. My family did our fair share of celebrating, well into the evening. Except we didn’t drink wine. We drank some very fine craft beers! And, we watched some of the college basketball tournament. Good times. Wally even bit my son Derek. Not that hard really. But, he definitely had it coming. Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR
Clue/Question: They leased a home instead of buying one because it was their – – –
Answer: “PREFER–RENTS“
(A wonderful pun, and a not too difficult solve. Their decision makes a lot of sense. Maybe the owner will give them an option to buy the place, if they like it enough. Buying a house is a huge commitment, and not to be taken lightly.
No new clue words, but three of the jumbles came up as new. We’ve see “meeec” in the past. The answer letter layout was an elegant eleven letter jumble. Kind of unusual having only one – repeated – vowel. Don’t remember when David last did that. My jumble radar was strong that day. I got the final answer right away.
Nice cartoon of a couple, surfing the web, trying to find a good place to stay. I wonder if they went to that Jeff Goldblum site? Be well and do good, friends.) —YUR
