“The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you.” —John E. Southard
(So very little on the author of this marvelous, positive quote! He’s either a gentleman who was born in 1944 and died in 2004, a man who was born in 1945 and died in 1994, or a guy who was born in 1893 and died ? . . . sometime. Or, he could have been – maybe still is – anyone else! Any way, we should all strive to let go of all the hurts and slights of our lives, and concentrate on giving back to those who have been good to us. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS.I read a little while ago of Tommy Lasorda’s passing. I wouldn’t have been surprised had today’s quote come from Tommy. I was never a Dodgers’ fan, but I definitely think he was good for the game of baseball. A seemingly great guy, who took a chance on a kid named Mike Piazza! As a Mets fan, I’ll always be thankful for that.—YUR
Clue/Question: When they looked at the available lots in the new development, they were – – –
Answer: “SITE–SEEING“
(There you go! Ending the work week with a bang. Nothing ambiguous about the clue/question today. I think that this Jumble would have worked well during the Lee/Arnold days too. Even though the word SITE is probably more common now with the internet, it’s origins fit today’s puzzle perfectly. A SITE is more simply an area, lot, or place. A specific place on the internet is a website, or more simply, a site. I provide this Captain Obvious tidbit for those who might be new to the English language!
No new clue words today. However, all of the jumbles are coming up as new for me. They’ve all been added to my Tags, as per my long standing policy. The only one to give me any trouble was “giesnn”. I was never in the Navy, so the only real exposure to “ensign” comes from the movie “Ensign Pulver”, which was a silly movie from the early 1960s. But, looking it up, I discovered that it had a very impressive cast! No Newman, Brando, or Burton, mind you. But, Burl Ives and Walter Matthau were certainly no slouches. AND, probably in a very minor role, Jack Nicholson! Unfortunately, less than half of the cast is still with us. I guess that’s to be expected of a movie that is 57 years old! I wonder if it’s available on Netflix?
Beautiful cartoon of what promises to be an upscale housing development. Large lots, with views of mountains and the woods. A far cry from low-cost/affordable housing! Fun Jumble though. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
PS.Today would have been Elvis Presley’s 86th birthday! A Happy Birthday to “The King”, in the great beyond! This song is probably the opposite of this Jumble’s future housing development. — YUR
