Cryptoquote Spoiler – 11/28/20

I suppose I will die never knowing what pumpkin pie tastes like when you have room for it.”   —   Robert Brault

(Ol’ Bob seems to be a bit of an internet enigma.  We know he’s an author.  But there are very few pictures of the man.  No bio, and no obvious social media presence.  I guess that’s the way he likes it . . . uh huh, uh huh!  But, personally, I have not had his problem.  I always have room for pumpkin pie.  I might have to wait about a half hour following Thanksgiving dinner these days, but it was never a problem when I was younger!  The last few years I’ve been buying pumpkin pie weeks before Thanksgiving.  And, hopefully, I’ll be buying – and eating – them for the next few weeks too.  The best thing about it is I’m the only one in my house who likes it!  But, I do behave myself.  Just one slice a day.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Kabuki Japanese Restaurant - The City of Shadows

Visual Description:  Some Asian ambience.

LUFAT  =  FAULT,  FYOLT  =  LOFTY,  SSLUYT  =  STYLUS,  UMIENM  =  IMMUNE   —   Giving us:  FATLTSYLUE

Clue/Question:  They thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of their food in a restaurant that was decorated – – –

Khigh Dhiegh

Answer:  TASTEFULLY

(Overall, I’m getting a Japanese vibe, from both the restaurant’s decor, and the food on our couple’s table.  But, of course I can’t be certain.  I think the Japanese are more concerned with presentation than a lot of restaurants.  Plating is very important.

All of today’s clue words are like reliable comfort food.  Nothing new.  Nothing fancy.  Although, you could say “lofty” is pretty fancy.  And, “stylus” sounds like it could be fancy . . . if it wasn’t more functional.  Three of the jumbles came up as new, with “lufat” having definitely been used before.  “Lufat” has a Chinese sound to it.  Sorta like Wo Fat, from “Hawaii Five-O”!  Watch out, Steve!  The answer letter layout was a tasty ten letter jumble.  It masked the final answer very well.  I had to start from the assumption of the answer ending in LY.  From there I was able to refine TASTEFUL.

Great restaurant scene cartoon.  With our primary couple, the gentleman does not seem to have a beverage.  Strange.  Jeff has been giving us a real international flair, lately.  We need to celebrate diversity.  Celebrate light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.  We’ll get to make that official, come Wednesday, January 20th.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR  😉
