Belated Sunday Cryptoquote – 11/15/20

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Biography - Childhood, Life Achievements & Timeline | American poets, Inspirational people, Longfellow

Most people would succeed in small things if they were not troubled by great ambitions.”   —   Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

(I finally saw the word PEOPLE early on, and it made all the difference, as it was the only word that ended in E!  A fairly challenging solve!  I wonder if I would’ve picked up on it any quicker if the author’s last name was coded AXYDLBAAXR???  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

In cooking, as in all the arts, simplicity is the sign of perfection.”   —   Curnonsky

(A fairly challenging quote from the Prince-Elect of Gastronomy!  This guy lived a full and rewarding life as a culinary writer.  Probably a little too full, as it’s reported that – later in life – he had grown so heavy that it took six friends to carry him to his favorite restaurants!  Also, they say he was trying to diet, and got faint, and fell out of his apartment window, to his death!  But making it to 84, while eating the best French food, and best French wine is pretty sweet.  We welcome him, Maurice Edmund Sailland – AKA Curnonsky, to the Cryptoquote Club today!  Be well and do good, friends.  Bon appétit!)   —   YUR

Corn maze in Wall reveals 2020 season design honoring first responders

Answer: AMAZEING JOB

(A fun little pun!  And, I’m pretty certain that it’s a fun little maze to solve as well.  I guess it’s that time of year again, where we have the guest cartoonist, coming up with some Jumbles of their own.  That’s always a lot of fun.  A little break from – and for – our two pals, David and Jeff.

All of today’s clue words are already on the ralis95 clue word database.  Two of the jumbles came up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “cijeu” and “mlhebu” in the past.  The answer letter layout was a great eleven letter jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.  It was the final answer slots, with the quotation marks and hyphens, along with the great cartoon, that made solving it a meander through the entanglement.

Great cartoon too.  Does anyone know if Joe regularly places himself in his Mazetoons?  I haven’t seen this before.  It looks like a fairly challenging maze though.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
