“Great ability without discretion comes almost invariably to a tragic end.” — Léon Gambetta
(I think this great ability that he spoke of must have been the power that he witnessed being wielded, during his life in politics. He made it all the way to Prime Minister of France, before his untimely death at the age of 44. Apparently, he had been handling a pistol when it accidentally went off, shooting himself in the arm. The wound – while not fatal – was healing very slowly, and while he was recovering he was stricken with appendicitis. In 1882 that was almost always fatal. But, we welcome Monsieur Gambetta to the Cryptoquote Club today. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
