(Excellent, obedient pun! I guess this could be any time from World War II to 1952. I think it’s hilarious that Ike “didn’t belong to any organized church until 1952.” Gotta be a good God fearin’ man to run for President! The U.S. will never get over its Puritan beginnings!
We actually have a brand new clue word today! Unless Angela says we had it in an earlier Sunday Jumble. And, that word is “toasty”! Our good friend, ralis95, will have to add it to his world famous clue word database. Better send him an email. All of the jumbles but “cronee” are coming up as new. This is “cronee”‘s “encore” appearance. I liked the jumble for “toasty”, but I didn’t suspect that the clue word would be new. I had to take a number of looks at “cgaher”, before seeing “charge”. The jumble made it look like a two syllable word! The answer letter layout was a very impressive seventeen letter jumble. Nothing obvious about it. The clue/question, and the final answer slots were the big clues, for me.
Fun period piece, military cartoon. You can’t possibly count the stars on the flag, but it just looks like a 48 state flag! It looks like a fairly major cartoon inconsistency today, but I think it’s okay! With lesser generals you see fairly large stars on their epaulets. But, that’s only when it goes up to four-star general. For the rare five-star general they do a circular cluster of five smaller stars. So, no. I don’t think Jeff made a mistake. Maybe Ken, or someone can confirm. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR
