Clue/Question: Napoleon really thought he could win at Waterloo, but he came up – – –
Answer: A LITTLE SHORT
(Oooh! This pun is a double dis! Little and short? Wow! That’s cold blooded. There is some controversy over Napoleon’s height. Some say he was 5’7″, while others have him all the way down to 5’2″. Either way, they say he was actually the height of the average French adult male of the day. But, he was definitely short by military standards, especially for the cavalry. But, he didn’t lack for confidence. He completely underestimated the Duke of Wellington, who no doubt learned some guerilla tactics fighting the Mysore, in southern India.
There were no new clue words today. Two of the jumbles appear to be new, but we’ve definitely seen “grtie” and “solone” sometime in the past. Hoyt did it again, where the first two clue words start with the same letter. This happens frequently. The answer letter layout was a terrific twelve letter jumble. Beautifully cryptic. The cartoon’s dialog, and the clue/question set up the final answer very nicely.
Cool cartoon of the battle that ended Napoleon’s reign. You can almost hear “The 1812 Overture” playing! Okay. Different war/battle, but pretty much the same outcome. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

This one is very similar to a final Jumble! answer from less than four months ago. Jeff’s cartoon depicted Napoleon, and the final answer was: “The 5-foot-2-inch military leader got his troops to stand at attention IN SHORT ORDER.” https://unclerave.wordpress.com/2020/05/21/jumble-spoiler-05-21-20/
Anytime they reference Napoleon or Danny DeVito, a good starting point is looking for SHORT or a synonym in the available letters.
UR,
“A LITTLE” this & that, “SHORT” of”: Napoleon spent 9 months & 21 days on the “Isola d’ Elba”.
But, he spent 6 yrs. on St. Helena, compliments
of British, after his final whipping!*^… He then died of, I believe, stomach cancer at age 51…Some deduce this is why he put his hand
in that area on numerous occasions…Some think it was because his clothes were ruff and bothered him (weak?)
UR, I can picture you on one of those islands,
sipping a Corona Beer with your layed back “Attitude”…….☆~~~
As long as you don’t serve it to me with a wedge of lime, or lemon! I don’t want any stinking fruit in my beer! Beer is supposed to be beer, not a goddam kiddie cocktail. The fascination With Corona Extra has always escaped me, especially with the fruit. At a party, if someone hands one to me, I will drink it, because . . . it’s free beer! But, the better Corona is . . . Corona Familiar! It has more body, and tastes more like a real beer should taste. Plus, it comes in brown bottles, which prevent the beer from skunking. Beers in green bottles and clear bottles skunk very easily. And, skunky beer sucks! — YUR
Yup, David. With creating the Jumble, for virtually 365 days each year, true originality is a tremendous challenge. As long as they’re not exact duplicates, we have to expect the occasional derivations. — YUR
