Jumble Spoiler – 08/27/20

You're fired! Three Beach Boys founding members dumped by the band's frontman Mike Love | Daily Mail Online

Visual Description:  Before they could get any “Girls on the Beach”!

SOEEB  =  OBESE,  GYECA  =  CAGEY,  UROCKN  =  UNCORK,  SDOYTG  =  STODGY   —   Giving us:  OBSEYUORST

Clue/Question:  When Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson roughhoused on the beach, they were being – – –

Featured Artist – The Beach Boys

Answer:  BOYSTEROUS

(A fine stinky pun.  Like Coney Island at low tide?  No, that’s really stinky.  Besides, this is clearly a West coast Jumble.  Maybe even Malibu!  It looks like Dennis and Brian are giving Carl a bit of tickle torture.  They always start out in laughter, and often end up in tears.

All of today’s clue words are as familiar as most Beach Boys songs are to us.  Ralis95 knows ’em all.  The clue words that is.  Well, and probably the songs too.  Three of the jumbles appear to be new, but we have unquestionably seen “soeeb” before.  The answer letter layout was a terrific ten letter jumble.  Not obvious at all, to me.  As usual, the quotation marks and the hyphen were big clues.

Plenty to love about today’s cartoon.  Great renditions of the three Wilson brothers.  I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what their mom looked like too.  You’ve got a gull on the beach, and some in the air.  Someone lounging under a beach umbrella, and a surfer heading into shore.  A nice looking pier in the distance, and the ever popular sinking sailboat on the horizon!  I hope that’s not the “Sloop John B.”!  Great fun.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Cryptoquote Spoiler – 08/27/20

Andrew Hendrixson | New American Paintings

Anyone who has ever made anything of importance was disciplined.”   —   Andrew Hendrixson

(I know.  I’ve never heard of the guy either.  And, after watching nearly five minutes of an almost fifty two minute video I don’t feel like I’m missing all that much.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a strong aversion to this quote, just to people like him.  Far too many poets are essentially pompous windbags, who feign humility.  I have a friend who’s a poet who isn’t so, but he seems to be more of an exception to my extremely subjective opinion of poets.  LOL!  But, this guy is both an artist and a poet, so he can’t be all bad!  And, he’s a handsome lad.  It’s his first quote to make the Cryptoquote, so we heartily welcome him to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
