Cryptoquote Spoiler – 08/21/20

Jordan Peterson Deserves Love, Not Spite, in Time of Darkness ...

Accept the terrible responsibility of life with eyes wide open.”   —   Jordan Peterson

(I struggled to get this one started!  I suspected “BJR” being THE, but I wasn’t seeing . . . EYES!  It certainly doesn’t help that I always save the T’s and the E’s for last.

Never heard of this dude Jordan Peterson before.  But, after reading a few articles about him I’m quickly becoming a fan.  His critics try to call him right-wing and conservative, but his views on the importance of language, and the ever increasing dangers of “political correctness” align with my views precisely.  Most of you know my ideology to be pretty liberal or left-wing, but every day I am more and more alarmed by the increasingly – mindless and unfair – “groupthink”!  I refuse to conform to what is shaping up to be an Orwellian existence.  I believe we can all still work for social justice without having to sacrifice critical thought, or our independence.  The PC movement started out with the best of intentions, but it has become a self-consuming monster.  We all need to step back, and look to where this is all heading.  I just hope it isn’t already too late.

The esteemed clinical psychologist, Dr. Jordan Peterson, has graced the Cryptoquote for the very first time today.  I hope it won’t be the last.  We welcome him to the Cryptoquote Club today.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 08/21/20

Get Your Kids a Pet Chicken

Visual Description:  Flabbergasted fowl!

Clue/Question:  The farmer and the hens thought the fox’s foray into the henhouse was – – –

Fox meet henhouse ‒ what happens if industry runs Michigan DEQ ...

(Egg-zactly!  Our little sly-guy had absolutely no trouble outfoxing those dumb clucks!  And, I’m including Jedidiah there!  He looks like an even bigger bird-brain.  Probably a Trump appointee.  Actually, more likely the fox is!  Try doing a regular perimeter check, brother J!

Once again, we are seeing no new clue words, yet all of the jumbles appear to be new.  Of course, I’ve been known to miss some of those in the past.  None of them presented any kind of problem for me today.  The answer letter layout was a nifty ten letter jumble.  If it weren’t for the hyphen and the quotation marks this might have been a tougher solve.

Cute cartoon.  The hens are all a flustered, and in a fowl mood.  Jed, standing there with egg on his face.  I really like the scene outside the henhouse!  Our little fox friend is exiting through the convenient hole in the fence.  For some reason the Brits don’t seem to acknowledge the compound word “henhouse”.  Strange, because I’m certain they’ve been tending to chickens a heckuva lot longer than us Yanks.  Silly Limeys!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
