PM Modi: Martin Luther King Jr. inspired by Gandhi's ideologies ...

Anger and intolerance are the twin enemies of correct understanding.”   —   Mohandas Gandhi

(I still hold to my old school liberal values.  Too many of today’s so-called liberals are just too angry and intolerant for my taste.  To me, many of their views and actions are ironically fascist in nature.  Do any of them actually think that Dr. King, or Gandhi, would approve of mobs defacing and tearing down all these statues, just because they feel they represent “racist ideologies”?  These actions will not lead to a correct understanding.  Only to increased anger and resentment.  Construction, not destruction!  Be well and do . . . good, friends.)   —   YUR

Jumble Spoiler – 08/11/20

Mount Airy barber inspired by 'Real Floyd' | Mt. Airy News

Visual Description:  “What are you gonna do about it Flatfoot?”

GABYG  =  BAGGY,  NMISU  =  MINUS,  GRUFIE  =  FIGURE,  NPETTO  =  POTEN  —   Giving us:  AGGINFIRPTT

Clue/Question:  The barber was giving away a new comb to each customer as a – – –

Barbicide Disinfectant Jars Large Medium Small For Hospitals ...

Answer:  PARTING GIFT

(Not necessarily a stinky pun, but it does smell familiar.  Wait a minute.  Could that be . . . Barbicide???  Since it is a Disinfectant, Fungicide, & Viricide, I wonder if President Trump has considered injecting this – as medicine – to fight off the “China Flu”?  Or, maybe just drink the stuff!  It looks and smells very refreshing!  Check with the Scarf Lady and get back to us, POTUS.

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends, like Floyd “the Barber” Lawson, played by Howard McNear.  He was one of my favorite characters on “The Andy Griffith Show”.  The show still runs on MeTV, but I rarely watch it.  My wife has a kind of thing about old TV and movies.  Two of the jumbles came up as new, but we’ve definitely seen “gabyg” and “grufie” sometime before.  I had to back into “potent”!   Without the PTT I was barely able to see GIFT.  The AGNIR was just enough for me to figure out PARTING.  The answer letter layout was a nifty eleven letter jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.

Great cartoon of a barber shop.  The barber really does look like Floyd!  I guess, on some level, my brain picked up on the customer’s line about keeping his hair in line.  For me, that is what made this punswer!  The Visual Description quote is one of my favorite Floyd lines!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
