Answer:  MAKING A MESS

(They certainly were!  And, you’ve gotta love an alliterative, stinky Jumble pun!  I never had to endure military chow, but I know the Beetle Baily crew is not too fond of Cookie’s cooking.  With the exception of Sarge, of course.  He’s never been known to be all that picky.

All of today’s clue words were familiar old friends.  We’ve definitely seen “pmile” before, but the other three jumbles appear to be new.  No head scratchers for me today.  The answer letter layout was another swell eleven letter jumble.  The formality of “eating facility” was the big clue for me.

Great cartoon of some young Army men, in what looks to be a quonset hut.  When I was a young kid there was a burger joint, in Fairport, NY, called the Quonset Hut.  From what I can remember, they were pretty good.  Not sure if the building is there anymore, but I know that it was repurposed a few times.  I don’t really see quonset huts anymore.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
