Visual Description:  Man-child and Mrs. Killjoy.

ODIVE  =  VIDEO,  KEIHR  =  HIKER,  PXDUEL  =  DUPLEX,  SLIHVA  =  LAVISH   —   Giving us:  VDEHIEDELAS

Clue/Question:  He wanted to buy the bookcase, but his wife – – –

Bob Has 101,822 Comic Books

Answer:  SHELVED THE IDEA

(To never be discussed again!  Wives traditionally pooh pooh a number of bachelor holdovers.  That moose-head that looked so cool in your bachelor pad?  Uh-uh!  To the attic, or Good Will.  More and more wives are getting a little more lenient about our addictions to sports, but when it comes to our comic book collections, or watching The Three Stooges . . . fuhgeddaboudit!  Maybe it’s payback for our pulling the heads off our sisters’ Barbie dolls?  Maybe they are just so much more mature and sophisticated than us guys?   Naahhh!

All of today’s clue words are familiar old friends.  Two of the jumbles appear to be new, while we’ve definitely seen both “odive” and “keihr” in the past.  The answer letter layout is a wonderfully cryptic eleven letter jumble.  Without the clue/question, and the cartoon, this could have been a difficult solve.

Great furniture store shopping cartoon.  The wife’s expression kind of says it all.  They might still end up purchasing the bookcase, but it definitely won’t be for his comic books!  Sorry, pal.  Welcome to married life.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

The Hawker Hurricane - the forgotten star of the Battle of Britain.

It’s not good enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what’s required.”   —   Sir Winston Churchill

(Essentially, do . . . or die!  The Luftwaffe was larger and better equipped than the RAF.  But, the British fighter pilots were fighting for their homes and their families.  They prevailed, largely because they knew they had to.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Clue/Question:  They went to view the empty apartment and were happy with the – – –

Room with wide window overlooking landscape with lake surrounded ...

Answer: VACANTSEE

(This might be one of the best Jumble puns in a very long time!  It feels very original to me.  How about you guys?  All I know is that I liked it!

None of the clue words came up as new, but all of the jumbles did!  I don’t remember any of them stumping me.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble.  Nothing obvious about it.  The big clues were the quotation marks and the dash!

Great cartoon of a couple looking for their dream domicile.  The realtor lady, or landlady, made a very quick sale!  I just love a happy ending, don’t you?!  Rest In Peace, Olivia de Havilland!  Your Melanie was the sweetest character in “Gone With The Wind”!  Scarlett was a bitch.  Ashley loved you!  And, you were the last of that movie’s stars!  104 years was a great run.  And, hopefully you were unaware of the utter nonsense surrounding GWTW.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

BO DIDDLEY – A LEARNING EXPERIENCE — Robert Sebree

I opened the door for a lot of people, and they just ran through and left me holding the knob.”   —   Bo Diddley

(Strangely enough . . . I kind of know how he feels!  When I started this blog nobody was posting spoilers to word games!  Now see how many sites there are?!  But, if you listen closely, playing softly in the background, of each of my posts . . . the Bo Diddley beat!  Ride On, Josephine!  LOL!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Do You Wear a Cummerbund with a Tuxedo | OTAA

Visual Description:  The Master of Ceremonies?

IGSEN  =  SINGE,  OSUDE  =  DOUSE,  MLINEB  =  NIMBLE,  KTHSEC  =  SKETC  —   Giving us:  SIEDUSNIESTH

Clue/Question:  The tuxedo looked great on him and would perfectly – – –

Prince William's secret MI6 stint as royal James Bond - and his ...

Answer:  SUIT HIS NEEDS

(Ooh!  A classy stinky pun!  A tuxedo can make even the most uncouth of us – at least appear – debonair!  The tails, the bow tie, the cummerbund, the shiny shoes, the cuff links and the studs.  The whole deal takes a bit of time, but when completed you look like a million bucks.  Either that, or some freakish penguin.  Oh!  Merriam Webster’s and Collins, and Wiktionary do have a listing for “cumberbund”, but the correct spelling and pronunciation is *cum-mer-bund*, as above.

All old favorite clue words today.  However, all of the jumbles came up as new, for me.  I was able to get them all instantly though.  The answer letter layout was a really nifty twelve letter jumble.  I thought it did a bang-up job of disguising the final answer!

The guy in the tux puts me in mind of Prince William.  He has been steadily losing his hair.  The double-breasted dude with the mustache could either be the tailor, or perhaps the Prince’s dresser.  Just my observations.  Fun Monday Jumble!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Visual Description:  Confident counting kiddie!

GRCOA  =  CARGO,  UVGAA  =  GUAVA,  FARCAE  =  CARAFE,  FLITUE  =  FUTILE   —   Giving us:  COUARAFFT

Clue/Question:  When asked if she knew what two plus two equaled, she said she knew – – –

Decisions: the hardest ones to deal with are the ones you don't ...

Answer:  FOUR A FACT

(A fine homophonic Jumble pun!  I thought it was sufficiently stinky.  Numeric in nature even.

No new clue words, but all of the jumbles are coming up as new.  None of them hit me as being  really tough though.  The answer letter layout was a fine nine letter jumble.  It was nicely cryptic, and I’m sure that the quotation marks in that final answer slots location was a big hint.

Cute cartoon of a precocious child, and her proud papa!  It looks to me like the older gent forgot his pants!  But, I guess they’re just some funky looking shorts.  Nice black socks too.  Old farts be like that!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

Carnival Beverage Recipes - Carnival Cruise Lines - CRUISIN

Answer:  ON BOARD

(A fine, legit pun.  Everything seemed above board.  Except maybe our chess enthusiast.  Most folks who go on cruises are looking for a little fun in the sun . . . and lots of food and drink.  Playing chess is fairly far down on my cruise to-do list.  But, to each their own.

No new clue words today.  All of the jumbles came up as new for me.  “I thought that “nledat” was an interesting jumble.  I started to go Billy Ray on “rbyeak” for about a second, then I thought better.  The answer letter layout was a balmy seaworthy seven letter jumble.  Decently cryptic too.

Loads to like in the cartoon.  Deck chairs and sun-wear.  A fruity cocktail in hand, and the classic sinking sailboat on the horizon.  A classic Jumble.  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR
