“Find the good. It’s all around you. Find it, showcase it and you’ll start believing in it.” — Jesse Owens
(Boy, it’s hard to find a more inspiring story than Jesse’s! He had to put up with the segregationism of the United States, that treated blacks like second class citizens. At least in Germany – despite it being Hitler’s “Master Race” Germany – he was allowed to travel with, and stay at the same hotels as, the white American athletes. And, the predominantly German crowd gave him thunderous ovations. Jesse even received a salute from Hitler, as he passed by Hitler’s box. When Jesse Owens returned to the states he did NOT receive an invitation to the White House. Nor did Roosevelt send him any message of congratulations! And, they wouldn’t even let him use the front door of the Waldorf Astoria. He had to use a service entrance, and a freight elevator, to get to get to his reception. What a crock! Things still need improving today, but they’re a heck of a lot better than in those days. Be well and do good, friends. Find the good!) — YUR
