“The everyday kindness of the back roads more than makes up for the acts of greed in the headlines.” — Charles Kuralt
(Charles Kuralt was an American original. I was a huge fan of his “On The Road” segments during the 1970s. And, I became an instant fan when he became the original – and the best – host of the “CBS Sunday Morning” show. The most entertaining and educational show to ever air on television, in my opinion. He had a fantastic voice, and he just came off as the most regular guy you’d ever want to meet. Sadly, he retired relatively young, and then died at the age of 62. I miss those days. Be well and do good, friends.) — YUR

I totally agree. CBS Sunday Morning used to be the best show on TV, thanks to Charles Kuralt, and it’s still way up there. He also narrated a beautiful miniseries about the American Revolution. So good to see him in the Daily Cryp!
The one thing that has really bothered me over the years is how his “successors” end the show with their self promotions. C.K. used to introduce the Moment of Nature, and when it was finished he’d repeat what/where it was. Osgood and Paulie JUST introduce it. Most people are trying to finish their breakfast, and doing some of the puzzles, and such, that they easily might miss the intro. There is rarely – if ever – any kind of narration going on with the segment, so if you miss the intro you’re SOL. Kuralt made sure you knew what and where it was. — YUR

I liked the CBS Sunday Morning when Charles Kuralt was there. I’d get up early on Sunday mornings in time to be in front of the TV right when it came on at 8.00 AM.
It was surprising after he passed to learn about a long-term affair he was having for many years. Sometimes, life is more complicated than we expect, even among our favorite people.
May he rest in peace. He’s earned it from me.
