Model props female full body personality clothing store Women's ...

Visual Description:  Fashion Friday!

Clue/Question:  The store’s window featured all-female life-size figures.  One could call them – – –

(Maybe, with today’s political “correctness”, we should just refer to them as xnequins!  How ’bout it, gals . . . er ladies . . . er women?  Should we just eliminate every word that has an obvious gender “bias”?  Are there limits???  Especially, with today’s gender fluidity, is there really any need for even he/she, and him/her?  Us dopey, sad sack, male, hetero-humans are obediently awaiting your latest directive.  Please, bear in mind that I’ve always supported equal rights . . . for all, and women’s and gay/transgender rights specifically.  My issue is with the subjugation of the English language, and with censorship in general.  Those are both anathema and detrimental to a free society.

We have seen all four Jumble clue words before, yet all of their jumbles are coming up as new.  I had a little bit of trouble with “downeo”.  You wooden think that would be a tough word for an old pro like me!  Would you?  The answer letter layout was a wonderful twelve letter jumble.  Beautifully cryptic.

Great cartoon of some shoppers, gazing at a clothing store’s window display.  It’s a little hard to tell whether this is inside a mall – remember them – or, out on the street.  That very well could be a sidewalk that they’re on.  Ooh!  What about the word “female”?  Is it too derivative of the word “male”, or vice versa?  Or, are they okay, because they pretty much apply to all life forms?  Hmm!  Be well and do good, friends.)   —   YUR

PS.  The word “friend” is sufficiently gender neutral, right???   —   YUR

Uh oh, Unc… duck! Incoming frying pans!

I quickly got what D&J were going for here. The trick for me was to remember how to spell the root word. Where do the N’s, E and I go again? That took some trial and error, but I finally got it. And now I know how to spell MANNEQUIN.

Very funny, David. And, so far, no complaints from our feminine readers. — YUR
